They should have gone with a simpler design so there would be a lower chance of vandalism. |

That's ridiculous, there's a perfectly usable bridge 50m to the right of that.

there's actually a third pane of glass on the bridge that is cracked now. I'm wondering if the city hasn't noticed it yet.

Sure but how many have what appears to be laminated glass? Not blaming the designers though it probably took a lot of effort to crack those panes.

I hate how the youth nowadays needs bridges. In my day we clambered up and down the embankments and dodged the traffic!

			BUMP!
Related to the Peace bridge, the city is starting work on putting in a controlled crossing (traffic signal) at 9th Street and Memorial drive NW. Planned completion is fall 2016.

Due to the design though it's definitely much higher maintenance than a typical pedestrian bridge. Seems like simply replacing lights is no easy task. Disappointing to hear about the vandalism though.

WTF? 9th??? So this won't solve the J-walking problem at 8th, where the bridge is, where the crossing should have been moved in the first place. Or, better yet, where a bridge could have completed the connection. So now there will be 2 crossings, 3 blocks from each other, neither serving where people actually want to cross. I'm sure drivers will love this, too. Good jerb. Sigh.

Just admit the screw up, fix the landscaping and do it at 8th. For the love of god.

Well they built the bridge on 8th which made no sense. Might as well make the crosswalk on 9th!

The bridge where it is is perfect. It is highly used. The problem is they didn't make it long enough.

So, the City is going to put a ped crosswalk at 9th when there is a pedestrian bridge at 9A? Why the hell can't people just use the pedestrian crossing at 9A St? Are they that lazy? I guess they probably are.
