Monahan's tone:

And when you count league inflationary factors, they're about equal at the time they were signed. Full on good job by BT while being very fair to Monahan.

There it is. Roger breaks the Johnny question.

Roger turning this into a Gaudreau press conference. Totally not fair to Monahan.

It was one question (to both Sean / Brad) and if you didn't think that topic was going to come up I don't know what to tell you.

It was very poorly framed. I was sure that someone would ask Treliving about the current progress in the negotiation, but for Millions to ask Monahan if his deal now puts pressure on Gaudreau to sign was dumb.

It was actually more than one question. The question did come up but he kept pushing the question down their throats.

Not a coincidence it was Roger Millions who asked it either with likely several dozen reporters there hmmmmmmmmmmm

That may be so but it was a little overzealous to claim that was attempting to turn things into a "Gaudreau press conference".

Whether the question was asked or not, nothing came of it, other than Treliving telling everyone he is just gonna respond by making their eyes glass over in reiterating these things take time and effort (which he would have used the word The Process).

Asking Monahan if the money would change him is just as silly a question.

Terrific signing by BT!

needed something like this before the world cup starts.... hoping that we can sign Johnny to a similar term if possible, though i know he's a little older than Monahan....

6 years term i hope, but it sounds like he wants to be a UFA asap...

Good money for a guy that Hero charts rate as being a more likely 3rd4th line or depth guy than top line guy.

Glad it's done. Probably a bit on the pricey side, but not by such a big number that it can't be dealt with. IMO, having your best players I this age range making under 7 a year is easily manageable with today's cap figure. It's when they get to be 28 and get 10 million that it's not.
