Walsh-Jennings might actually lose another Olympic match tonight. That would be huge.

NBC will show about 45 replays of that 100m hurdles race, and likely pre-empt/ignore the Men's 200 Semis (see you Gatlin, polish up your 100m silver nicely for Andre when you pop another positive test) in their tape delay coverage.

I think we watched the 200 m semi's live on NBC and they gave a lot of coverage to bolt de grasse. The NBC prime time coverage has been the best and mostly live coverage I can remember

This has been such a confidence building Olympics for De Grasse. He can simply write off any loss to Bolt, but knows he's very much in the mix and that even the great man has great expectations of him. Really looking forward to the final.

People can say what they want about Bolt easing up at the end but De Grasse was right there with him the whole way.

Between Oleksiak and DeGrasse, 7pm has been my favourite hour of the day the last 1.5 weeks

So if De Grasse medals tomorrow in the 200, and Canada medals in the 4x100, who carries the flag: Oleksiak or De Grasse?
IMO, what De Grasse is doing is more impressive and a bigger deal.
But I would imagine that he won't be the flag bearer unless he somehow makes one of those medals gold.

And De Grasse was actually faster down the stretch. If he can improve his start, I think he can beat Bolt

I would think Oleksiak would still be the choice, Derek Drouin is a great option as well.

Man, watching that men's 200 race again, it's clear Bolt shuts it down shortly after coming out of the curve. As encouraging as it was watching De Grasse in that race, he's not close to Bolt, who made up the stagger on him in 50m.
The margin of victory would have been about .3 seconds (I reckon) if both had been running full out, but I love De Grasse's spirit in pushing Bolt just for the hell of it.

This gold medal women's beach volleyball game should be a good one. One great rally already.

Great crowd and atmosphere there, the beach volleyball venue has seemed like so much fun to be at the every time I've watched a match. Even when it isn't full the people who are there look like they're having a great time

Love De Grasse but not a chance. Boy vs man. Bolt's dominance in sprinting won't be replicated for a long time.

Well the biggest thing is the US is missing arguably it's top 3 players in LeBron, Steph and Kawhi. But it can't afford to send the B team and get the B effort and just win. Rest of the world isn't afraid anymore, and since almost all international teams run some variation of the Spurs/motion offense, teams have gotten much better at playing a style that can beat the US. Basketball's global popularity continues to rise so I hope we can get to a day when there's a legitimately strong competition like hockey where 4 or 5 teams have a legit shot.
