Fighting an injury maybe? It looks like he's retired now.

Yeats lost, would have tied the match if it was 5 seconds longer

Olympic wrestling is such a stupid sport. Canadian vs. Swede for the bronze. The Swede was utterly passive throughout the entire match, and somehow wins because she got a free point after defending for 30 seconds - an opportunity the Canadian was never afforded. She was also cautioned twice, including a finger in the eye.

USA2 - Taiwo is now in 3rd, 1 point behind Warner. He jumped 2.19!

Yeah, pretty incredible that an olympic medal was awarded, based on a 30 second passivity call against the Canadian. To my highly untrained eye, the Swede was no less, nor no more, passive. She did nothing more than the Canadian to warrant a victory.

Hard way to decide a match. And a medal.

I absolutely hate that Manu Ginobili has shaved his head... I loved that Costanza hair he's had for years

Why even have a basketball Tournament? It's essentially a gimme for the U.S and a talent show for Silver and Bronze. Also, why cannot Canada send their best to qualifiers so they can make the Olympics? I feel like we have the firepower now to push for a medal.

Shootouts suck in field hockey too, but giving the shooter eight seconds and unlimited shots in that time is an interesting quirk.

Field hockey shoot outs are crazy. The shots are timed, you can score off rebounds, the goalie seems to be allowed to play the body. Its crazy!

There are lots of events that are dominated by one country or one individual. The Olympics isn't always about stiff competition, sometimes it is about individual excellence.

I want to see the best in the world at every sport. If that means dominance in a sport like basketball, well so be it.

Better that than sending athletes that aren't the best

We absolutely should be there. At the FIBA America's Tournament last summer we lost a heartbreaker to Argentina, meaning that we had to go to a play in tournament in Manila this summer in order to qualify. Only Tristan Thompson and Corey Joseph went from the NBA, other players gave various excuses for not going (I think Kelly Olynk probably would have gone if not injured).

We will be there in 2020, at least I hope to God we are, because there is no excuse to not make it with the basketball talent we have in this country.

It's funny because the USMBT has actually been pretty poor (relative of course) in this tournament. Could have lost to Australia, should have lost to Serbia, unimpressive win over a down France team. Canada with everyone there absolutely could have given this US team a run for its money.

This.

This US team is very beatable. Would have loved for us to be in this tournament with all of our guys.

I think that for the 2020 cycle our basketball teams will absolutely be a medal contenders. Men's and Women's.

I agree and for the most part, the U.S utter domination of Olympic basketball has grown the sport globally over the last 20 or so years to the point where they actually have to try a little now. I find it akin to womens hockey where there's really only two teams and the rest is fodder. At least when the NHL sends their players to play there's a balance or at least more than one or two teams that can take a shot a gold. But I don't see the spirit of the olympics in basketball yet.

Maybe the next olympics the U.S sweats when Canada and the rest of world catches up a little more.

How much of that is the competition or just the laid back mentality of the U.S?

I feel that you just know at any given moment the U.S can flip a switch and tear this field apart.
