Maybe not on this forum, but there are probably just as many people with bitterness for Rogers like me, as there are people that seem to be fine with how Rogers operates the franchise like a company on the TSX. Take a look around at some of the Blue Jays forums. Toronto would be an absolute gong show if things had went off the rails this year.
I'm not saying you haven't followed the team for decades, i'm saying there's a boat load of fans who came back after last year (and they had good reason to leave) who have no ill-will towards current ownership because they had washed their hands of it. The original poster asked why there's so much negativity on a first place team, well there's a long history of discontent between Rogers and Jays fans, and while winning helps, when ownership still doesn't budge on stuff like budget while the fans have shown that they will back the stands, buy the merchandise, and watch on tv when the product is good, it stirs up the hornets nest even while they are winning.

I can't think of one. They all go out and some spend some cash so they don't have a huge hole. The Blue Jaya really did nothing, and that's what gets people so riled up.
Did it work out for them? Absolutely in hindsight, but that wasn't by design, that was by chance. You don't going into a World Series contending season leaving something to chance.

I don't think the last is true at all. I think the reality of Sports is to win you need players to surpass and exceed expectations. What team goes into the season with all of their bases covered.
Baltimore and Boston both started the season with rotations that were a mess and IMO worse than the Jays. Sure you can argue Boston spent big on Price but they left a mess behind him so I don't really see that as a good arguemnt. 1 Ace is not going to win you a championship. The Orioles took a flyer on both Pedro Alvarez and Mark Trumbo.
Not to mention you seem to be implying that guys like Sanchez, Happ, Saunders etc are all doing what they are doing by chance. I dont' agree with that, all of those guys had talent levels to do what they are capable of doing. Happ did this in Pittsburgh, Sanchez has been a bit of a "prodigy" for a while and Saunders has always been considered a very talent player who coudln't stay healthy. I think more credit should be given to the fact that while yes things have worked out nicely for the Jays its not like they wre rolling the dice on no bodies like you seem to be implying. They were rolling the dice on very talented players, just like Baltimore did with guys like Alvarez and Trumbo.

It's not that fans aren't fed up with Rogers. But constant hand-wringing of Rogers, moaning about how they don't enable the Jays to act like a big market team, etc etc, there's simply NOTHING we can do about it. It's the reality of their ownership and how they're running the team.
The sooner you can come to grips with that, the more enjoyable it is to just sit back and be entertained by what is a very very good baseball team this year.
As early as next year we could see a considerable step back, so just enjoy it, man.

Honestly going to any team forum to get a measured gauge on how people are feeling about the team. Your are measuring the hardest of the hard core and often those folks also are the most critical.
To put it another way: I really don't care what fans on the Jays forum think.

Striking out.
Tossed his bat into the dug out. Apparently Gibbons informed him that was a no-no.

Donaldson got jammed and was favoring his hands. Has come out of the game. Hopefully just precautionary.

Jays bats have been much better for a while now. Started with some better at bats in the Houston series and now I think they are back to the offence they should be. Slump appears to be over at least IMO.
Still going to have holes 7-9 but that tends to happen when you have 2 regulars out of the starting lineup. Upton is really starting to swing the bat better though so that helps.

It's not just messageboards, you should listen to the Toronto media. Now they are harsh to begin with, but man oh man, there would have been some show around the Blue Jays if things things didn't go well.
I think you are pretty naive to think there isn't some serious trusts issues between a lot of Jays fans, Jays players and management. Not as bad as Rocky Wirtz in Chicago, but it's up there and is always in the background of the club.

Hopefully JD is OK. Seems weird Gibbons would get mad at him for throwing his bat unless it almost hit Gibbons or someone else.
