Vey is small and slow. His smarts got him by in the AHL.
Shore is big and by the end of last season was pretty fast. It gave him an edge in things like checking and cycling even if he wasn't as, I dunno, productive, as Vey.
Fair enough.
Clearly the league has seen enough of Shore though. If you can't crack the forward group of the 2015-16 Flames as a 25 year old, it's probably not going to happen for you.
Vey can score in the AHL. That has value. Shore is a 30 point AHL forward. Vey is a 40 point NHL forward.
At the NHL level, Vey is twice as productive as Shore. They're both 25. I'd probably say both are below replacement level players.
I can't comment on Vey's skill set but Shore seemed to a skilled player with some size. For me he just didn't show the aggressiveness needed in the NHL. He looked like a passenger rather than someone getting it done.
To answer your question: Knight looked more than solid in a 4th line role, contributing well at both ends of the ice. IMO he's a 'tweener still, and would be a valuable addition to a franchise as an injury call-up at both center and wing. He filled in well for the Panthers last year, but the center depth in the franchise is very deep, so there wasn't just a spot for him in the organization going forward.
I think you see him on a two-way deal closer to training camp as teams look to find some injury insurance.

I liked Knight better than Shore and wouldn't mind seeing him re-sign with the Flames. As said he'd be a good tweener and we need some good bodies in Stockton.
He was on a 20-ish goal pace when he was acquired from the Panthers. He had 9 goals in 35 games prior to the trade to the Flames, after that he barely played and scored 3 in his final 12 that year.

I think Knight is ready to be a #4 center. If Stajan can be moved to the wing then I would like to see Knight picked up for that 4th line.
Gotta check drurys old spreadsheet I think. I remember shore looking really good in points one season.
Yeah, points. People that have a problem with a player always like to prove how right they are by bringing up goal totals for playmaking forwards. Shore had 30 points in 35 games for San Antonio prior to being dealt to the Flames, once he joined the Heat his offense stalled a bit only recording 7 points in 12 games. Shore has never been a goal scorer, so why people are bringing up his goal totals is beyond me, just tells me they've never watched him outside of his handful of games with the Flames in the NHL.
It's not difficult to figure out. 9+3=12, not 10. His career high was 12 goals in 47 games.
You can probably make your points without insulting people. But you are right, his 12 goal season changes everything. What was I thinking. 12 goals in 47 games is a totally different story than 10 in 41.

Either way you're talking about just over half a season of a playmaking center, so I'm not sure why his "10 goals" is so vital to you. I'm sick and tired f fans like you who run their mouths about players they've barely watched. it's irritating because all you go off is stats and nothing else.

Running my mouth? About Drew Shore? I don't how many times I have asked you to stop with the personal attacks. Enough already please.
