Summary based on what I could infer from google translate (if any of the Swedish posters would care to post more accurate translations of where google translate messed up, it would be appreciated):

he had trouble sleeping the night before his NHL debut
his Dad and little brother were watching from the stands - they talked about his first NHL game since he was little
talked to Oduya before the game instead of taking his usual pre-game nap

after experiencing the NHL he feels like he can play at that level
acknowledges he needs work in the defensive zone and thinks he made great strides in that area since Christmas

got a concusion from an elbow, it wasn't an open ice hit, he smacked the plexiglass, out for 4 weeks
was only back 3 weeks before being called up to Calgary

says Stockton is really criminal, lots of gangs and drugs
heard gunshots every now and then
still enjoyed playing there even though it didn't feel like home immediately
the police told them about areas not to visit in Stockton
saw some shady people dealing drugs on the street
the good part about Stockton was that it was near San Francisco, Sacramento, and San Jose - they could just drive 30 minutes to get to a major city
it was fun to stay there, but good there was also something to do nearby

on whether he expects to start the season in Stockton or Calgary;
He is not taking anything for granted
In the hockey world you have to work and prove you are worthy of a spot
Flames have told him they are happy with him and have told him he has a good chance to stay with the NHL team at the start of the season
Aim is not to disappoint management

At development camp, Flames told Kylington they believe in him

If he starts in Stockton it won't be a disappointment
Still early in his career and believes it is a matter of time before he plays in the NHL

Was dissapointed and pissed off he was left off last years Swedish WJC team. Thinks it is a bit of a joke. But he respects Richard Gronberg's selections.
He brooded on the decision when he heard it, but then moved on.

on why he turned down Sweden for this year's WJC summer camps:
Calgary and Kylington put together a training plan for him this summer
The provided him with a strict plan - spending a lot of time in the gym and working really hard.
He didn't want to go against his promise to Calgary so told Sweden that he would follow Calgary's plan and advice
He won't be with the Swedish team at the summer camps, but if the opportunity comes up to join the WJC team he will go
This kid oozes character

This was a much needed thread. It's too bad these guys are staying in the slums during the regular season in Stockton. I imagine it's a huge culture shock for a lot of players

FYI there is no way in hell that you could go from Stockton to SF in 40 minutes. Its at least double that (if the traffic is light). Stockton is quickly becoming the new Airdrie.

Stockton -> San Francisco is a 90-minute drive.
Calgary -> Airdrie is a 30-minute drive.

It cost the Flames a lottery pick. I try not to remember it.

Still happy with Tkachuk, but... Laine would be unreal.

Kylington is a very smart person and comes off as being arrogant to those that don't know his type of personality. That's part of the reason why I think he had "attitude" issues, because he does actually understand the game well and all of that and was confident in his own opinions because he is intelligent.

Every time I have spoken with him he has been a down to earth and exceedingly normal person, but I can understand why he has rubbed certain people the wrong way. It is completely overblown. He has a personality, but he isn't a jerk in any way.

The way I see it, after hearing all of this and seeing him play on multiple occasions, I think we may have a better-skating P.K. Subban on our hands. I think this guy will be an All-Star in the future. He has a big personality, great hockey sense, and unbelievable skill. This guy will be our #2 defenseman for years.

Giordano - Brodie
Hamilton - Kylington
Engelland - Jokipakka
Wideman

Would we really have picked at 2 if we lost game 82?

Er, no, actually, now that I check. I'm losing my mind.

We did lose out on a lottery pick, though: Columbus'. So, no real loss, there. Who would you rather have, Puljujarvi, Dubois, or Tkachuk? Personally, I'm fine with any of them, so I'm fine with Tkachuk.

I'm fine with Tkachuk, too, but Puljujarvi would have been my pick if we had the third pick.

I've always suspected this is why he was turfed by Swedish scouts before the draft. In Scandinavia it's usually not going to work in your favour if you carry yourself with a lot of self confidence, as tall poppy syndrome is in full effect. Being a visible minority is the icing on the cake.

Easy there, tiger. Kylington is not on the same tier as Subban.

I remember looking at how Kylington dropped in his draft year. In November ISS ranked him 7th (3rd defenceman). Cox had him ranked 5th (2nd defenceman). His ranking dropped due to worries about attitude. Most experts still had him in their top 30 on draft day and he slipped to 60. This this article, and last year's performance in the AHL, should make Flames fans feel very comfortable.

The Flames could have a top 5 - 7 talent in Kylington.

By far the best thing I take from that is that he know he has to work hard and that nothing is handed to you. That's the attitude you need to persevere and get better. Seems like he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder but still has a positive attitude. This really could end up being a steal of a pick.

It's genius.

They spend a year or two in Stockton and then Calgary looks like Shangri La.

It could be worse. Instead of Stockton it could be Bakersfield. That's just as bad or worse and is in the middle of nowhere in the central valley, quite far from a major metropolis. Basically, the Edmonton of California.

I would way rather live in the middle of nowhere than live in a dangerous slum.

Bakersfield is also a dangerous slum. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.
