HRC is a terrible candidate. Up until DJT insulted the gold star family and the conventions the race was a tie or a 2-3 HRC lead. Despite ALL the BS that Trump said during the primaries it was still close until the end of July.
Had the GOP nominated a gentlemen (or woman) without any baggage this race would be heading in the Republican's direction.
The country wants change. Next summer, the GOP base will be pondering what they just did. They are about to make Hillary the second accidental Clinton president.
If the country wants change....what makes you think that a status quo republicans would have any particular appeal?
Assuming HRC is the CIC, 2020 will be interesting because all of the underlying frustration about the status quo will have just festered for another 4 years.

Also good to remember that the people who want change are always much more vocal than those who are kind of okay with things and just want somebody competent to do all that 'ruling the country' stuff while they focus on stuff that interests them more.

This seems like a potential voter intimidation tactic. Imagine the stooges that would volunteer to do something like this for the Trump "campaign". You don't even have to imagine -- we've all seen the footage of what kind of people go to Trump rallies. Those people "observing" at polling stations is downright scary.

^It's not a potential voter intimidation tactic, it's a total voter intimidation tactic. They might as well have added, "be sure to wear all your Trump paraphenalia while open-carrying your biggest gun just to make things clear to everyone that they'd better not be "rigging" anything by voting for Clinton."

I'm not sure it's voter intimidation, as much as its an attempt to slow down and gum-up polling stations in heavily democrat (ie. black, inner-city) neighbourhoods, to the point that people get frustrated with the lineups and leave. Confronting or interacting with voters gets you kicked out of the polling station, but challenging everything within the laws of the state is probably more effective.
Good thing is, the threat of being confronted by these idiots will probably drive up advance voting.

If the goal is to create controversy and make people buy into the possibility of a rigged election, getting your "observers" kicked out of the polling stations would be pretty effective.

Yesterday, in public, Trump said:
- A loss is "not my fault"
- A loss would feel "foolish"
- "I don't care" if I lose
- "I want to go home"

I think the first goal is still trying to win the election outright (by any means necessary), and painting a picture of a rigged election is a secondary goal.

They could probably just get by by issuing brown shirts ....

Maybe. But a secondary goal is still a goal. Plus I'm not convinced Trump thinks this stuff all the way through.
But...another week goes by where Trump dominates the news cycle.
Of course he dominates the news cycle. He's the Republican nominee, and he repeatedly suggested that the current president founded a terrorist army and that the approaching election is rigged. Those are serious, and seriously stupid, allegations. The media is this, the media is that bla bla bla, but they can't just ignore this kind of thing.
He's no longer a fringe player. He's going to get coverage. We can't roll our eyes any more and just say they should ignore the crazy things he says and he'll go away.

That's why I've been worrying about the outcome of this thing, in spite of the polling numbers all being strongly in Hillary's favour - literal fascists generally don't just accept losing an election.
Trump's been riling up his supporters about the election being "rigged" since the DNC ended. Pat Buchanan hopped on board that train today, so you can expect the evangelicals to start banging on about it as well. You've got another three months of these people - who are paranoid and heavily armed as it is - having the idea drilled into their heads by their political and religious leaders that the ######s and ######s and towel-heads are stealing their country away, and the rhetoric has already shifted towards using any means necessary to take control again. There are going to be MAJOR fireworks come November, and I'm glad I won't be in the U.S. when it goes down.

I guess he's just a liar then. "Moderate rebel forces" and whatnot.

Listen at 5:31. Just a slip of the tongue which he later corrected but I guess if you're that deranged to believe that crap, there is no point in discussing the matter.
