Wranglers were good name and good unis when they were the Flames (and post-Flames) ECHL affiliate.

Would've expected a little more creativity (and/or cliched name, such as the "Aces") from the first pro team in Vegas. Though Nighthawks isn't bad I guess if they go covert-ops type Nighthawk theme (and Vegas being a "night" town ties that in), not some imaginary bird.

If I'm reading the map correctly, it looks like southern Nevada is one of the few habitable places in North America that isn't in their range.
The "Nighthawks" name makes perfect sense, then. The birds don't exist in southern Nevada; likewise, a few years from now, neither will the hockey team.

You think an expansion team that is starting in a year is going to get moved in three or four?
Right, it'll be just like those Coyotes the NHL definitely let move and definitely didn't prop up to keep in an even less logical place than Vegas.
How are the London Knights able to veto that name? It's the same league (CHL) that has the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Kitchener Rangers and Portland Winterhawks (and look at the uniforms of the latter two teams!)
I also don't get how the Blackhawks can't veto this when the Bruins vetoed Manitoba Bears for the team that eventually became Winnipeg Jets.
Because the London Knights hold a trademark in Canada for "Knights" as it relates to the operation of a hockey team. It doesn't matter that the NHL is bigger, Foley would still have to negotiate around that hurdle. Clearly the Hunters are demanding too much money to relinquish the mark.
I was curious, so I did a search on the CIPO for "Lethbridge Hurricanes", and it appears that the junior hockey team did transfer the trademark to the Carolina Hurricanes in 1997. Obviously with an agreement that the junior team would continue using the name as well.
Unrelated, but when the L'Canes trademarked their Tazmanian Devil logo in 1997, Warner Brothers opposed it. The Canes' abandoned the trademark in 2001 before that resolved.
And I have no clue what THIS is supposed to be, but sufficed to say, the team hasn't actually used this logo yet.
