Default Friday August 12

Busy day ahead! Set your alarms and plan your breaks at work accordingly.

Golf starts us off again with the 2nd round of the Men's Tournament. The Canadians swap tee times from yesterday and David Hearn tees off at 4:30. DeLaet who shot a 66 in Round 1 starts at 6:25.

Chance for a medal in the final of the Women's Lightweight Double Sculls at 6:10 for Patricia Obee and Lindsay Jennerich. The Final for the Men's Four goes at 6:40, featuring a Canadian team.

Track and Field starts today! Brianne Thiesen-Eaton competes in the Women's Heptathlon which starts at 6:35. Brittany Crew and Taryn Suttie compete for Canada in the Women's Shot Put Qualifications starting at 7:05. At 7:10 the Men's 800m Qualifying Heats begin with Anthony Romaniw and Brandon McBride competing. The Women's 10k race starts at 8:10, Natasha Wodak and Pan Am Bronze medalist/Criminal Defence Attorney Lanni Marchant run for Canada.

Pan Am Gold Medalist Mandy Bujold is the only Canadian in boxing action today, she fights in the Round of 16 of the Women's Fly at 8:15.

At 9 the Men's Tennis Quarterfinals begin, with some interesting match ups that should provide some entertainment.

At 9:30 Canada takes on India in Men's Field Hockey.

At 10:00 the Women's 50m Freestyle Heats begin, Chantal Van Landeghem and Michelle Williams swim for Canada. At 10:40 the Men's 1500m Freestyle Heats begin with Ryan Cochrane trying to qualify for the semifinals. At 12:30 our medal collecting Women's Aquatics team swims in Heat 1 of the 4x100m Medley Relay. At 12:48 the Men's team swims in Heat 1 of their 4x100m Medley Relay.

At 11:00 Rosie MacLennan begins to defend her Gold Medal from London in Trampoline. The finals are set to start at 12:45.

At 11:30 the Men's 20k Race Walk starts. Inaki Gomez, Benjamin Thorne, and Pan Am Gold medalist Evan Dunfee compete for Canada.

At 12:30 the Canadian Women's Basketball Team take on the defending Gold Medal Champs the United States. This is going to be a huge test for this Canadian team.

13:00 has Canada in Heat 1 of the Women's Track Team Sprint Qualifications. The Finals are at 15:00.

Buckle up everybody, because at 16:00 CANWNT faces France in the Quarterfinal. This is a rematch of the Bronze medal game from 2012 that I'm sure we all remember. This one will be on CBC.

...

At 17:30 the Women's 1500m Qualifying Rounds begin in the track. Hilary Stellingwerf, Gabriela Stafford, and Pan Am Silver medalist Nicole Sifuentes race for Canada. At 17:45 Lethbridge's Heather Steacy competes in the Hammer Throw Qualifications.

Huge chance for a medal as at 19:00 Hilary Caldwell will swim in the 200m Backstroke Final. At 19:12 Phelps swims for another Gold in the 100m Butterfly Final. At 19:44 the Men's 50m Freestyle takes place. At 20:00 the Women's 50m Freestyle semifinals take place.

GO CANADA GO!

McBride running his 800 m qualifying heat now.

Wins it, leads start to finish. Moving on.

Scheduling update: I saw on a few different sites last night that the two Women's Beach Volleyball teams would be facing each other today, but checking schedules for tomorrow it appears there... So I'm guessing it's happening tomorrow instead of today.

Haha that was probably my fault GS. I was behind for all the swimming yesterday so I never got to partake in the Friedman Phelps hilarity last night. My post this morning on it probably bumped it above today's thread at the time. Heaven forbid CP doesn't know my thoughts on that..
