Also, I think Seahawk is a nickname for Osprey, which is more like an eagle than hawk.

I can't stand the regular avenue for sports names. All of these reek of adding -sie to someone's last name and calling it a nickname.
So far I only like the Las Vegas janets.
Are we done with nationality specific names this century? How about the Las Vegas Italian flying rhinos in honour of bugsy Segal?
Or the Las Vegas jaunty blazers.
Anything but an animal, or piece of military equipment, or natural phenomenon. Please.

Las Vegas Rat Pack.
Immediately acquire Burrows, Marchand, Couture, Shaw, Gallagher, Komarov, Clutterbuck...

When I think of nighthawks in Vegas I envision someone up drinking and doing blow all night.
Why can't teams be more original? The Crimson Tide is an awesome team name, why can't some smarty pants come up with one like that?
Animals and such just seem so tacky and easy to use instead of coming up with something cool.

I mentioned it on the first page, but the Las Vegas Bluebirds has a nice ring to it, and it is the state bird of Nevada. Much better than any -hawk name, especially with the Chicago team trolling around.

Hawky (or Hockey) McHawkface could salvage the situation.

The idea of naming another NHL team the _______ Hawks is ridiculous.
It'd be like calling them the Las Vegas Cardsharks and not seeing the issue.

All of these potential names have military ties.
Red Hawk is a rifle. Desert Hawk is a drone. Nighthawk is a stealth aircraft.

All I can get

In the movie Slap Shot coach Reggie Dunlop got hired by the Minnesota Nighthawks after the Chiefs won the championship.
Nighthawk is an actual bird, although small and not highly predatory in nature.
