Jays look terrible at the plate and have since the Baltimore series. They are lucky to be winning games here.

Very sloppy game all around. Estrada is getting in jams every inning and the defense not helping either. The bats are looking like they did in April right now. Its weird how the whole team tanks at the same time so often.
That being said just down 2 at the moment and one good inning can change it all.

Could Saunders stand any further away from the plate? He looks like a little leaguer who is scared of the ball.

Scoring Winger

It's not even that they didn't get a run, they had three terrible bad bats in a row. Don't know what it is with the Jays and RISP this year but they just seem to lose their focus when runners are on base.

Wow. Getting spanked 2 of the past 3 games against two of the worst teams in the league.

It's not just this year. Jays haven't been able to score runs without the homer for years now.

So incredible how awful things have turned lately, especially over the last 2 out of 3 games. Bats started to wane against the Orioles. Pathetic batting against KC and the KC hitters finding all the holes available it seemed every time they made contact. Now Estrada gets nickeled and dimed by the Rays with mostly soft, cheap hits finding holes just like the Royals did. Only Forsythe in 2 ABs against Estrada and Beckham when he just missed that home run foul were hard hit balls off Estrada.
And Smoak & Upton Jr, ####ing useless and looking completely hopeless.

The frustration I felt tonight is that were missing really hittable pitches. Not sure if that's bad luck or them pushing too hard.

Jays better get their bats together and take this one tomorrow.
There was way too much over swinging and hitting weak pop ups against Smyly. Can't start missing hittable pitches again like they did during April and half of May.

Smoak is frustrating right now - so much that I checked on Colabello's stats.
Which are terrible in AAA.

Right. But I'm more concerned with how atrocious the bats are starting to look again like they were in April and half of May, and how hopeless Smoak & Blow Job Upton have been rather than pulling my hair out over fringe bullpen guys like Feldman.
Can't score if the bats are cold.

I think you can be concerned about more than one thing at a time. We need better from our bullpen guys...the game was still in reach when Feldman came in today and was still in reach when he came in against the Royals and he was responsible for three runs against the Royals and four against the Rays. Our bullpen has to be better.
Smoak and Upton have been brutal. The other 7 guys need to be more clutch as well.

Celebrated Square Root Day
|
Remember last year with all that overwhelming confidence and swagger the team got from the trades at the deadline? It felt lik ethey couldn't lose with the clubhouse on an absolute high. Man, I'd give anything to be reliving that right now. This year has the opposite feelin after the trade deadline.
Everything's starting to go cold and at the worst possible time. If we hit a prolonged slump, things could be over before we know it, and this is our last year.

Better to have the slump now. They'll get it back - the lineup is too good not to get it back.
