You know, we do have an Olympics forum:
http://forum.calgarypuck.com/forumdisplay.php?f=50
And seriously, you want to get rid of ping pong? You monster.

Ping Pong is awesome. You're a terrible person. It's also probably one of the most popular events.

I agree about modern pentathalon. I'm totally fine with having "legacy" events dating back to the old Olympiad like discus and javelin, but they should reflect the historical sport. Otherwise there's no basis for keeping them.

I don't know about removal of sports, but I'm super stoked that they're adding sport climbing in 2020. Now they also need to add bouldering and it'll be awesome.

If anything, this might inform some people that there is a subforum for the Olympics. I bet that forum would get more action if it was a sub of Offtopic rather than of Other Sports.

I like how the OP insinuates that wrestling is acceptable, but Judo is not.
10/10, would analyze again

I think we should just have two versions of every event instead, the clean athlete version and the roid monster version. Would love to see how fast some of the swimmers and rowers and runners could do totally roided up instead of only kind of roided up.

He's right though. Who does Judo? Why do they have Judo, and not BJJ, for example? Why that specific martial art?

To me there are a laundry list of sports that should be removed from the olympics, and it begins with all the judged events:
- gymnastics
- boxing (as much as it pains me to say it)
- diving/synchro diving
- synchro swimming
- dressage
I don't know...the list goes on. Are some of these impressive? Yeah, absolutely. But really if you can't measure or see the winner obviously then it should be out.

Sailing
This isnt much of a sport. Might as well have car racing. Another sport for the rich.
Equestrian
A playground for the rich. Do the competitors ever change or is it the same group of old guys every 4 years until they die?
Rodeo is pretty cool too but its righfully not in the Olympics.
Judo
Not relevant today.
Ping pong
Tennis and badminton are enough.
Theres a few more but Ill leave it at that and let others post what theyd like to see gone. Nothing worse than flipping the channel to Olympic coverage and seeing one of these dreadful sports.

I could think of a few things worse. Like getting impaled. Or Women's ice hockey.
But back on topic: badminton seems like a recreational activity to me, not a sport. Ping pong is 1,000 times better than badminton.

Wrestling was one of the legacy events from the old Greek days. I think it should stay for that reason alone. Plus wrestling is actually quite huge outside of Canada at the high school level.

To 99% of the world, hockey is "for the rich" too.
