Tough, a half point on any category on any dive would have made the difference. Got to be crushing.

Started raining a bit, came into the corner way too hot. Head smashed into the curb. It was ugly. There's a few vids on youtube now for the replay if you're into that sort of thing.

Horrible luck. She was hit by a car a few years back while training in Italy and had multiple fractures and a collapsed lung. Looked like she was a lock to get gold until that crash.

From watching the whole thing, 1 great dive, 2 good ones, 1 below average (the last one) and then a terrible one to start for the Canadians. Only the screw up by the Malaysians on the 4th one had them with a shot on the 5th.

That said, one point after 5 dives is close. No idea, when replays are so quickly available right after, and the judgement is on 5 seconds that they're judged on, why they aren't used.

I would say that it's difficult, but not a disaster.

That's just how the sport is.
Skating and gymnastics allow replays but boxing and diving does not.

Especially when you see the discrepancy in the judges scores. There were consistently execution scores that whole competition where you'd see 3.0 point differences from the high judge and low judge (8.5 vs. 5.5). That's beyond ridiculous. Especially since the highest scores overall I think I saw were 9.0 and 4.5. So basically one judge thought they were near perfect and another thought they were completely awful. Hard to take the event seriously considering all that. Either its fixed or the judges need to use replay to get some consistent scoring.

This 7's format is great to watch for those of us with short attention spans. In all seriousness, I don't think I could watch an 80 minute match on TV.
