I like the fact that it's tougher to catch any Pokemon, no matter what CP or user level. Catching Pokemon is supposed to be hard.

I agree to an extent. However, for those people that can't stock up using Pokestops this can be super frustrating.
Wasting 10+ Pokeballs and Razz Berries on what should be an easily captured Pokemon (common type and low CP) is rough when you have a limited supply of balls and very little access to Pokestops.
I had to spend an hour and a half stocking up yesterday at a park on the opposite end of the city, and I've dwindled down from 52 pokeballs to 23 and only caught 4 Pokemon...2 of which were under 150 CP (I'm currently level 14).

Finally I'm catching a few Pokemon in the 400 range, and the Eggs I hatch are 90%+
With a Raticate at 630, I don't see any point in trying to catch Ratattas any more.

Anyone else feeling like the GPS keeps losing them more lately? It kinda feels like every time I look down at the screen, I see the "GPS Signal Lost" bar.
Turned my 1.8km walk home from work into a 1km walk. =/

Just hit level 23 tonight. Haven't been able to upgrade my top Pokémon since I hatched a Lapras at level 18, but now have a top 6 over 1250 and 18 different Pokémon (85 total) over 1000 CP, so I guess depth throughout the roster is pretty good.

Yes. Just report anyone > level 33 at this point. Mathematically impossible given how long game has been out. Going to report the lvl36 guy that takes over every gym on the street with multiple 3400CP snorlaxes

Just caught my first Dragonite right now at PIP in this shiet weather. Took me probably at least 50+ balls all together and like 10-15 razz berries for him to finally surrender to me. CP of 1018.

The only thing I could think of would be to stockpile them to level grind off a single Lucky Egg. Get enough of them together and I suspect you could get a full level off it.
Though I would think that Weedle and Caterpies are better due to their need for only 12 candies as oppose to 25.
Just got to level 12 and my team doesn't seem all that good. Vaporeon aside:
Vaporeon - 901
Scyther - 719
Flareon - 679
Hypno - 618
Nidoking - 534
Pidgeot - 495
Is it even worth putting special effort into catching enough for Magneton or Gengar? Both seem like long term projects and it seems I don't play often enough in their common drop zones (Magnemites being near college campuses and Gastly is fairly rare when I live...though I was lucky enough to catch a 302 Haunter). The massive weakness to ground hurts Magnemite and the frequency of Hypno/lack of Levitate in this game means Gengar is weak to some fairly common attacks (Psychic/Ground)
Online databases put them in fairly "meh" territory CP wise so I figure I'd ask before hunting them down.

Finally picked up enough eevees to evolve one, and picked up one with a pretty good number along the way.
1251 Vaporeon!
Also have evolved to a 817 Pidgeot, and a 532 Beedrill.

One showed up in the Hamptons. 1290 CP. Took about 9 balls and 3 razzberries to capture him. 
Missed out on a Squirtle downtown this morning because it ran after a single ball throw. 
688 CP Electabuzz ran from me after two balls, at Research park this afternoon.
