I've been with my wife for 10 years (married for 8) so I've been out of the dating game for a while. What's the deal now with who pays in terms of males and females? Has the dynamic changed from when the guy usually paid for everything? What's a typical good first date in terms of location and/or activities?

when I was still in the dating game I didn't do anything for dates that was money intensive until we had been out on a few.
Some may call me cheap, but it seemed to work out well for me.

The obvious question is why young men live at home with parents longer than young women do.

Just going off of what CliffFletcher posted about how more and more men aren't getting into the dating game so to speak. It stands to reason that as more men stop seeking women, there will be less men for women to have sex with.
Having said that, something did just dawn on me. Many of these men probably wouldn't be of interest to most women anyway. A lot of these guys have given up but how much sex could they really have if they tried?
It's a lot easier for the average woman to have random sex than the average guy, so I'm not sure how that changes things.

Because a lot of men are willing to financially support a woman but most women aren't willing to do the same for a man?

It's always been easier for girls to get laid, nothing's changed there.
What I will say is I think that both male and female are getting laid more, earlier and with many many more partners than ever before but because most girls consider sex a recreational activity the way guys do they are able to massively increase their rate of partners, for guys it's easier but still much harder than for girls.
I don't think guys are having less sex I think girls are having much more sex than they used to.

So if we ignore homosexuals for a minute it can't be any harder for a guy to get laid then a girl to get laid as they get laid at the exact same rate.

Uhhhhh.... what? You know that it is technically possible for all the women on earth to sleep with one guy and leave the rest virgins? Obviously that's an exaggeration to prove a point, I'm just saying that all things aren't equal here. The cream will rise to the top so to speak, and not all men get an equal shot. The richest and most well-endowed go to the front of the line. It doesn't help that many men have unrealistic expectations and won't settle for 'average'.

Yes, but on average men and wome have to have the same number of partners. Median may be different. So on average the difficulty for each gender is equal.
What your basically arguing is that there is a small group of alphas who sleep with a lot of women. Women who mainly sleep with Alphas outside of relationships, and male betas who don't have much sex.
What this ignores is most sex happens in relationships so dwarfs on a copulation basis it's probably not significant.

It's not a 'small' group. And they aren't alphas per se. How do you explain the numbers that CliffFletcher posted? What is that data saying?

It shows that as marriage is delayed so are the relationships that lead to marriage and since most sex occurs during relationships those that don't seek out relationships don't have sex.

No it isn't. The problem is that the average man is much more likely to think of themselves as above average and seek a partner similar to their false self-perception. The average woman, on the other hand, is less likely to have inflated standards, and more likely to put less emphasis on looks.
It's only "easier" for the average woman because they aren't as stupid as the average man. The average man could "crush the puss" (whoever said that, you're the worst ) if "the puss" he was after was even relatively in his league. Often times it isn't.
There are outliers, but you generally match in your "bracket." Know your bracket, love your bracket.
Or just become a homosexual. Then you'll never have to worry about pretend gender advantages again!
