Thanks for the heads up. Called Telus and they matched. Even managed to get them to lower my Optik TV by $15 a month.

You should read all your Shaw bills carefully, they are shady as hell. When I was talking to them they said I had to commit to a 2 year contract to get the deal. I told them I was happy to do a 2 year contract because that way they wouldn't raise my bill 3-6 times a year like they have been, a buck here and a buck there.

Was going to upgrade when I got home in a few weeks but they just called me offering the deal. Lowered my Shaw bill by $50 a month and they don't even have to come change the modem since I had 120 and the one I have is compatible.

Happy camper here

Is anyone else obsessed with doing speed tests all the time?

I've had it since it first came out. It's the only system like this that I've used so nothing to compare it to but it's pretty good. Does what it's supposed to but some things need work. The menu can be sluggish at times and I'm not sure if it's just the remote I'm using but at times, it seems like you almost need to mount it on a tripod and attach a rifle scope to it to get it to line up perfectly with the IR sensor on the portals to get it to respond to my remote.

they give you a little extra after getting in #### for advertising speeds that were not delivered during peak times

It seems to be sporadic, sometimes it seems normal, and other times it jumps to 150ms+ of latency. So it could be a specific route path it takes for some traffic, figured I'd wait it out to see if it gets corrected, hasn't been a huge deal breaker.

Telus is a joke. A friend called in to cancel a few weeks ago and they made an offer for them to stay and matched Shaw's offer. They made an appointment for last Wednesday to go to high speed internet, didn't show up and then rescheduled for today and then didn't show up again. He calls and after being on hold for an hour he is told that there is no appointment and the offer he was given two weeks ago was withdrawn because he took a free TV two and a half years ago. No courtesy call to let him know and no call to tell him the appointment was cancelled.

Thank god I switched to Shaw.

I presume your friend is going to switch. That's madness on telus's part. They're not coming out looking good in all this.

I am getting great speeds when using a wired connection but about 1/2 of that when on wifi. Is that normal or do I need to do some trouble shooting on my router.
