If anyone is having trouble finding it I was just at the Superstore Sunridge store and they had them for $40, about 30 bottles on the shelf 30min ago.

Will put this out there again. Have 2 new bottles looking to trade, too much scotch right now! Have a Dalwhinnie 15 and Macallan Amber. Looking for some sipping rum, maybe a Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, or The Captain 1671. Pm me if you have anything that could work.

$40 for Northern Harvest is pushing it when I can get real single malts for the $50 range. I saw pallet full at Liquor Barn/Depot @ Northhill a few weeks ago.

Hey do you know rum?
I bought a jug in the states for $75 USD at duty free, $20 bucks off and waiting for a certain occasion before opening it.
I went to stores here to price compare to see how I did, and it doesn't exist here!!!!
It is "Ron Zacapa XO Solera Gran Reserva Especial", ever heard of it?

Scotch drinkers, I have a 40 of Glenlivet 12, 40 of Glenfiddich 12, a 26 of Glenmorangie 12, and a triple pack of Glenfiddich 12 15 18 200 ml. I would like to trade this for a few bottles of good reds in the $35-75 price range. Would also be interested in good vodka, like Kirkland high end... PM me if interested.

Have to decide against a Longrow 11 Cab Sauv finish, Caol ila distillers edition moscotel finish, and bunnahabhain 18. It might be a long shot, but has anyone tried any of these?

A client just brought me a Macallan Ruby. Thats tonight's deal. I'll keep you all informed about its inevitable awesomeness.

I have a Bunnahabhain 18 that I've been sipping on and off for a while. It packs a lot of flavour, very full bodied. I find it a bit peaty compared to some of the smoother stuff like Mccallan. But it is a nice one.

Yeah I think the hype might have built it up a bit too much as I admit I was a little dissapointed. But after a few glasses it's grown on me. Cool to have such a great whisky distilled here in western Canada.

Anyone tried Alberta Premium Dark Horse whiskey? It's not high end, but for around $30 it's good value. Nice over some ice. Quite dark, but tasty. I think it's better then Crown Royal, though I haven't tried the Harvest.

I've had the Longrow, prefer the port casks, but overall too peated for me. There's a lot going on there.

I'm a huge fan of Alberta Premium Whiskey. IMO it's a great value item to have in a mini bar. At it's price, I don't mind mixing, sipping neat/ice/water etc. It's very versatile. I'll have to try to find the above some time and give it a spin.
Crown early harvest as quite tasty as well. The best in the world hype was a bit silly, but it for sure is a fun one to consume.
I nabbed a bottle of Hibiki and I enjoy that immensely as well. Same realm as the above two.
I've started slowing on the heavier scotches like my Lagavulin, Bunhabhain, Laphroaigs lately and going with the lighter fruitier beverages like above/my friend is introducing me to rum. Evolving tastes I think.

The Co-op on 16th ave and 3rd st NW has Dark Horse, but I think you should be able to find it most places.
As far as rum goes, my favourite every day(well, ok not EVERY day) rum is Havana Club 7 year dark.

Wife is not going to let me add another bottle or two me thinks... lol...
My friend is trying to introduce me to some very premium rums from the Caribbean (mostly not available in Calgary). I personally mix the rums I acquire in drinks or use it to cook. A premium rum would be a sipper similar to a scotch for me.
Same friend and I also decided to go on a quest to see who can first acquire a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon at a "reasonable price". Loser pays 3/4 cost for half the bottle, but technically it's still a win win with the ridiculous mark ups in the secondary markets for this bourbon.

Ask your friend if he's had Cane Garden Bay rum from Tortolla, British Virgin Islands. It is one of my absolute favourites, but I don't think you can buy it anywhere other than the BVI's.

I'll have to ask him some time whether he's tried it.

Glen Scotia Double Cask. Go get some.
Well rounded - smooth, nice burn at the end.
Edit: gawd, there's a touch of smoke right in there that only opens up after a bit.

Funny, I was just looking at that last night. Ended up with the Glenlivet Founder's instead.
