Yen-Hsun Lu has upset Zverev in straight sets 7-5 6-3 (Zverev made a deep run in Washington DC last week before losing to Monfils in the semi-finals). I was expecting Zverev to be Milos' opponent on Wednesday, but it will be Lu.

And Roger's closing up shop for the season due to a knee injury. Sounds like he'll have surgery, too.

huh...now wouldn't that be something if Roger had to retire due to knee problems before Rafa.
well screw it, let's put Denis and Felix on the fast track so that I still have something to believe in.

I suppose the good news here is he is having surgery and rehab, so that should put him down to be back again next year. Reading the statement it sounds like he's definitely not retiring. Hopefully surgery and recovery goes well. I imagine he'll take a protected ranking to stay in the top 10.
Edit: Also ends his record 15 year streak of winning at least one tournament.

I could be wrong, but doesn't the protected ranking only last for 6 months? By Melbourne he will probably be well out of the top 10 unless i'm mistaken.

I think it's the average ranking you hold in the first 3 months after the injury. Which probably doesn't matter since Roger does have a lot of points he'll lose between Cincy and the US Open. So maybe he won't take one.

Well that is a very nice win for her. Exorcise some of the demons from 2014. Now go get some revenge on Cibulkova for Wimbledon.

Good good! Glad she's moving on. If that awesome crowd doesn't pump her up, I don't know what will.
It must be an emotional win for her, to dig down deep and win at home.

Abanda won her match in straight sets so two Canadians into the 2nd round.

Polansky is fighting hard versus Stepanek right now. I haven't seen much of Polansky in action lately, but his serve is much improved from what I remember.

Lots of seeds dropping on the men's side today - Thiem seeded 5th retired trailing 4-1 in the opening set to Kevin Anderson, Isner (9th seed) lost to qualifier Ryan Harrison, and Rajeev Ram defeated 13th seeded Lucas Pouille.

I didn't see the match, but going by the set scores, it looks like Canadian Steven Diex gave Tomic a pretty good match (Tomic won 6-3, 7-6(4))

Abanda was just broken, but then broke back in the first set versus Svitolina to make it 4-4. Pretty good match thus far.

Break points galore in this match. But Abanda will serve for the 2nd set.
Edit: Broken the first time, she'll get another chance to serve it out...
Edit: Broken again, loses in two tiebreaks. Great effort though.
