I'm driving out to Kelowna Saturday morning, then to the island on Tuesday morning. Anyone have any recommendations for cool spots to stop for picnics/leg stretches with the fam along the way?

Field, BC is usually where we stop on the way for leg stretch and pee break and walk. You could also do the Mica dam tour in Revelstoke. Johnston Canyon if you have a park pass and want to extend your drive a bit by going on the Bow Valley Parkway between Banff and Lake Louise.

As a kid I always liked a stop at Spiral Tunnel if a train is going through.

Agreed. Was just in Kelowna and then Osoyoos/Oliver. Osoyoos and Oliver has beautiful geography, awesome wineries and no crowds of people (which is what I liked best about it). Kelowna, in the summer, is a very busy place.

Pipe Mountain Coaster?
http://www.revelstokemountainresort....untain-coaster
This intrigued me when I first stumbled on it. I would love to try and hit it up if I'm in the area.

We're leaving at around 6am on Saturday, so maybe a trip to Pipe Mountain may not be a bad idea...
Friend of mine went there last weekend (albeit I'm not sure what time), but said she didn't go due to a 4-hour wait.

This feels like the "Airdrie is 15 minutes from downtown!" comment all over again. Unless the highway improvements they made on 97 between Kelowna and Summerland made it way better than it was 5-10 years ago, there's no way you're getting there in 20 minutes.

There is the http://www.dutchmendairy.ca/ in Sicamous. They have ice cream for the kids and some of the best chocolate milk I have had (in the glass bottles). I know some of the wineries in the valley that make their own cheese, source their milk from this place.

I'm told the cheapest gas in the valley is usually at Fas Gas between Grindrod and Enderby, so we usually fill up there.https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Fas...4d-119.1538469

My 2 cents for someone who visits Kelowna fairly regularly:Nice restaurant at a winery: Cedar Creek winery
Cheaper lunch place: Mad Mango Café and Little Hobo
Quick rest stop: Never made it past Revy without stopping by the bridge for McD or A&W. Not that it is nice, but we are always looking for a stop there, going either direction.
Nicer rest stop: Mara lake (provincial park, I think)

+1 for Mad Mango for budget friendly fare. Also try the take out pizza and baked pasta specials at Olympia.

I will +1 the bohemian cafe for breakfast. Ended up going a couple times once we found it. Pretty big place so even though the line was long it wasn't a long wait.
