I haven't watched yet, but I assume that video is 2 minutes long?
I know you're being facetious, but it's just shy of 20 minutes and chalk full of strong physical play and tons of offensive chances he created using his size, speed and physicality that just didn't find the back of the net.

I'm just saying man: 4 goals, 18 points, and -15. I'm not saying we shouldn't be hopeful, but that's not a season to write home about or anything.
He has moments that make you go "wow", and then disappears for the rest of the game. Some games you don't even notice him out there. I know he's young. But consistency is his biggest problem, and he needs to fix it if he's going to remain in the NHL.

I'll say it again he has an intriguing package of skills , physical assets and some very good hands.
In a year or two we may look back and go say, he just needed some time to grow.
He may end up as a 3-4 th liner ,but I think he'll find "his" game and start becoming more consistent.
With the talent we have in the top six , I believe he will find that niche and excel.
Bennett,Tkachuk & Ferland in our top six could just make the Flames the most irritating/painful teams to play against.
I still believe that this guy can be a complimentary player in the top 6. He's not gonna drive a line on his own, but he's got good enough hands and hockey sense that a skilled guy like Bennett could bounce pucks in off of him.

Not just young... this was his rookie season we're talking about.
It's strange how so many who criticize him seem to be devoid of that context.
Absolutely he needs to find consistency, but this last season was his first full one in the NHL. The lofty expectations of some people (because of the Vancouver series) - and others who seem to hint that his development is in jeopardy because he didn't perform like a top 6 player in his rookie season is outright perplexing.

I'm not sure the -15 means that much. A lot of games, the Flames would have been better off if they had played 6 skaters. He didn't have a lot of puck luck either. Ferland and Bennett hit a hell off a lot of goal posts.
He just completed his first full professional season.
I think his season is typical of many NHL rookies. Some flashes of brilliance and long stretches where the speed and power of the NHL look like too much for them.
We should temper our expectations for Ferland. If all he ever pans out to be is a 40 point winger who can crash and bang and wreak havoc on the forecheck then he will be a great player! He doesn't need to score 70 points to be an effective NHLer.
