He does not have a good reputation around this city. I don't think even the Canucks would be stupid enough to go for him.

Given the drama that Kassian brought to the team and the price Vancouver paid to get him off the team, doubt Benning would bring problem child 2 in, even if he's a hometown kid.

Hearing #Sabres willingness to deal Evander Kane (or the desired return if he is on the block) depends on whether Vesey signs. #Canucks

Given the possible cheap acquisition cost I could definitely see Vancouver being all over this. Benning openly stated he wants to bring in a scoring winger and Kane is still young, and a local boy.

I still like the story of Dusty B chucking all Kane's clothes in the shower. If there's one person you can't really retaliate against in Winnipeg....

He's local but he's still allegedly has major character issues. If it was one incident you can explain it. But when it starts being a pattern you have to wonder. This would be subtraction through addition. You're right though in that acquisition cost would presumably be low and van may not have to give up assets (which they are low on) in order to bring him in. Presume this will be a late August move (if at all) as everyone is on hold seeing where vesey goes.

With Vancouver's ownership refusing to rebuild, and trying to make playoffs, they pretty much have to take a chance on a player like Kane, if available. Acquistion cost would be low and they don't really have the assets to go for a trade for a "good" top 6 forward. If it does not work out, they can throw him into the expansion draft. Vegas is going to need to get to the salary cap. I have a feeling Kane and Rick Nash are going to be playing for Vegas come 2017/18 season.

I can see Vancouver taking a chance on him. The reason, they seem to like taking a contrarian view on everything trying to prove they're smarter than everybody else in league.

looks like my prediction is coming true.
In February 2015, I predicted that if Kane continues on his destructive path, h will be either incarcerated or dead by the age of 30. I'm not going to say much about the Winnipeg situation, but he was no angel. The Jets spent more on helping Kane with his off-ice problems than all other Jets combined.
In Buffalo, it looks like he did not have the same protection from the Sabres organization. I am willing to bet that if Kane was a working class citizen, he would be looking at 20 years in the state pen. However, money talks, especial in the USA.
Kane has virtually no chance of turning his life around. Let's just hope he does not get picked up by Vegas expansion team. His life expectancy would be less than a year from signing with the new Vegas team.

Don't mean to interrupt your expansive self-pat on the back here, but that is a little dramatic.
If you told me he'd be out of the NHL in two years I might believe you. But no chance of turning his life around? Dead within a year of playing for a Vegas team? Cool it Dr.Phil.

If a trade goes down, this will all but confirm that ownership is running the team and not the management group in place. It would run contradictory to everything Linden and Benning have been saying in terms of building the team. Guess they subscribe to the the no belief that there is no such thing as bad publicity.
Fwiw Tanbir from Surrey (the fan who is banging the drum on this deal) is saying he will delete his Twitter account if this deal doesn't go down.
@JoshSouthcombe I'm deleting account if it doesn't happen

Kane in Vegas? Seems like a safe place for him. Nice quiet western town. Not much to do...He can just settle down and focus on hockey. Yep, what could possibly go wrong?

If you avoid the strip, LV is just like any other major North American city minus the unbearable 45c average temps from summer. If you don't have the will power, it's easy to get in trouble wherever you are.

Agreed that he comes with major red flags but Vancouver appears to be a team desperate to try and win now. Rumors were they really wanted to get both Lucic and Eriksson. Kane style and skill wise is an okay consolation prize but again as you have mentioned the character issues are real. Perhaps having a strong veteran presence in the twins gives the org confidence to pull the move off?

Norm!

I would expect that the NHL is going to shove him into their substance abuse program.
He won't be playing this year.

Perhaps the reason why they kept burrows as well. Talk was he was done. Maybe they bring in Kane and have burrows babysit him. They aren't flush with assets to bring in a 2nd line player so they will need to take one with warts.
Just think they could find a better fit. Hartnell has been on the block all summer and Columbus is willing to dump him for cheap. Only ? Is if he'd waive for Vancouver bit you'd think its preferable to Columbus and torts. Patrik Berglund should be available as well and he'd be affordable and relatively issue free. Has a ntc but playing with Sedins should be attractive enough to ok a deal.

I am sure Theo was on another level of dysfunction compared to Kane. I'm pretty sure he is still around... no?
