In other news the Spruce Grove Highlanders have extended a limited one-day contract offer to Deryk Engelland for the next scheduled game against that team.

i hope that meatheads name gets out. Would love for his wife/gf to hear about how classy he is in rec hockey.
Unfortunately it sounds like this was actually minor hockey, likely Midget if they are 18. This should have been taken extremely seriously by the local MHA's, the league and even Hockey Alberta if it was escalated that far. My understanding of the rules would be that a gross misconduct would be in order and probably an indefinite suspension plus hearing with the MHA for any player who would conduct themselves this way. Unfortunately the ref's cannot call what they do not see so likely nothing more will come out of this. I've been involved with minor hockey coaching for 7 years now and my experience has been that officials and the local MHA's take this type of thing very seriously. I've witnessed game ejections and indefinite suspensions to both players and coaches for verbal abuse. Fortunately this has not happened very often but on many occasions there have been discussions after a game between coaches (honest discussions, not altercations) whereby we communicate that there may have been some inappropriate words said during a game. Most coaches will take this pretty seriously if it is one of their players who supposedly said something will either talk to the team as a whole (without calling anyone out) and indicate this type of behavior is inexcusable or on rare occasions pull the kid in question aside and have a serious talk with them
Just unbelievable. I am so angry at the officer who shot. If the injured man is to be believed, which I see no reason not to believe him, the officer says he didn't know why he shot him. Is training an issue, is it racism, officer fear, etc? I am certain there will be a protest this evening and rightfully so.
That's crazy, he's just a therapist for an Autistic guy. Brutal. Hope he gets billions.
I've sort of been idly pondering something along these lines. People understand that if Police officers commit Gross Negligence that their insurance deems it 'outside of the line of duty' doesnt cover civil suits or settlements right?
So then that money has to come out of General Revenue.
And whose money is that?
Somebody else's. Everybody else's. Ours (as taxpayers, not going to get bogged down in too many specifics).
Now, thats all well and good, we have to stand behind our Police forces so they can do what they need to do. But at the same time there shouldnt be this total and complete immunity either.
Considering this a primarily American issue, a settlement of that nature could technically bankrupt an entire Police department or even Municipality.
Maybe its about time for some consequences because this 'abuse of power' type of behaviour appears to be spiraling out of control.

So apparently not racist, just though someone who's autistic is worth shooting. Much better. Thankfully he has #### aim.

Two women are driving through a wildlife park where you're not allowed to get out of your cars in some areas including the tiger area, obviously. So they get so mad at each other than one actually gets out of the vehicle and then gets mauled. The other one then gets out to save her and gets killed and dragged away.
Unbelievable. But seeing the way so many people lose their minds when they get into an argument I could totally see someone getting so upset that they do this. We're such a stupid species in so many ways.
