Not a good week for my teams! Although Anne and Tanya look like they are getting the hang of it a bit, so maybe they will stick around for awhile.

My favourites at the moment are Steph and Kristen and Ashley and Joel. I don't think they'll win, but Anne and Tanya are not that bad. If they would stick to complimenting each other rather than going on about how they want to show their kids they can do anything (a common occurrence with mom teams that I hate) I will get more on board with them.

Disappointing to see the French dad give up.
-Son should have rounded up dad to give him better instructions (assuming that's allowed). WTF why do you keep rounding up ducks for other teams? Do you not understand the task?
-Could have rested. Take a half hour break, rehydrate, try again.
-Waste of a team. That slot could've went to a team that actually wants to compete in the race. I remember the one season where one woman tried a biathlon challenge 50 times because she wasn't going to give up.
-French dad? c'mon.

The team member who is not performing the task cannot give advice or clues. Just general "cheering" is allowed. Yes, taking a half hour break would have been advisable. Once they were in last and THEN took a four hour penalty, they were done unless the tall mom ended up in the hospital or something.

I'd say this statement is a bit of a reach, I'm sure they wanted to be there just as much as any other team that has done the race. The heat combined with frustration would get the best of anyone. I'd probably be pretty pissed off if I was in his exact situation. I think at the point they gave up on the task they already knew the race was over.

I've been in Vietnam in the summer and the heat never stops. We were just touring around, not chasing ducks in a field for two hours and we never stopped sweating. I think that was a big part of the issue, especially with an older contestant.

The 30-minute penalty for using the boat rather than the ferry doesn't feel steep enough.

I think the Dad should have kept going and should have rested since he came close to finishing the task at one point. But you never know how bad he was really struggling. I've been in Vietnam once and the heat is definitely crazy. A few people had to quit or came close to quitting a recent Survivor season shot in the same area because of how hot it was.

If the Vietnamese Karaoke next week is a detour, anyone who decides to do that is insane.

I don't understand what the French dad was doing. Why help every other team instead of worrying about your own task?

I get that it is hot out there, but he has no one to blame but himself.

The karaoke task ended up the much easier one. Only 4 lines of a song.

60 attempts of the bartending task?

Yeah, I didn't think it would be that easy from looking at the preview. Kelly and Kate nailed it.

All of a sudden they look like a strong team, they need to carry that momentum back to Canada.

Strong team? Uhh no. They can barely handle carrying toads or ducks. Let's not get carried away.

I do wonder if it's the editing that makes them so annoying. It's possible the editing makes them appear to be useless and vapid and all about shopping. Hard to tell.

I can't believe all the teams did as well as they did with the bugs. I can eat almost anything as long as I have a glass of water but that looked nasty. And the bat? With the teeth? Oh God....

I would have started barfing the second they put the plate down. And the barf bucket would have come with me upon completion. Oh that's gross.

As soon as they showed that, my wife and I looked at each other "I'd take the 4 hour penalty".

I think the bugs would be fine for me, barf worthy but the bat. Ugh the teeth I wouldn't be able to.

The moms did a good job on ending on a high note, they could have given up but it was nice to see them battle to the end. I don't get how far behind they were though. Every team arrived at the scooter shop when the sun was out and when they got to the roadblock the sun was setting.

I think they were the only ones on the last bus that left the stop from the leg before. Their race was basically over at that point.

Ya but it looked pretty watery. Doubt it would have provided enough coating to change the flavour much. Especially those big grubs.

departure times at the start

1. Joel & Ashley 11:41
2.Steph & Kristen 11:44 +0:03
3.Kelly & Kate 11:45 +0:04
4.Jilian & Emmett 12:14 +0:33
5.Frankie & Amy 12:29 +0:48
6.Rita & Yvette 12:52 +1:11
7.Julie & Lowell 13:15 +1:34
8.Anne & Tanya 13:44 +2:03

There was a report by the production crew that Anne and Tanya were the most directionally challenged team ever. They left +2:03 behind but lost nearly an additional hour looking for the #3 bus..
Also once you leave that late you get to Ho Chi Minh City in the middle of rush hour.

Makes sense that they got lost. I was just shocked that it took them that long to get to the roadblock haha.
