Yeah, but in this case my GF was smoking hot and was kidnapped from me by some trend-hopping dummies with no sense of history or aesthetics and they've put her in a cryogenic chamber, futurama-style and refuse to release her even though everyone is begging them to. Not only that, but everyone else I know in different cities are ditching their peroxide hair bimbo boob job GFs and going back to those classic babes who have aged beautifully and gracefully. In fact, let's look at that list again:
1. Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks
Original 6 jersey, never updated, no piping, no black, no trend-hopping, "living in the past". A true work of art - designed in the 50s.
2. Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks
Same
3. Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers
Original 6 jersey, never updated, no piping, no black, no trend-hopping, "living in the past". Designed in the 50s.
4. Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals
Pretty bad jerseys, but MUCH BETTER than they were from 95-07, ditching the black and teal. Their currents are at least the same colours as the OGs and they use a retro third - designed in the 70s.
5. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins
Another retro update. Miles and miles better than the 95-02 versions and infinitely better than the abominations from 07 when they unfathomably ditched their OG colours. They won a cup this season. Coincidence? I don't think so.
6. Patrice Bergeron, Boston Bruins
Original 6 jersey, never updated, no piping, no black, no trend-hopping, "living in the past". Designed in the 40s.
7. Zach Parise, Minnesota Wild
A strange team with no history. I'm willing to bet the best selling Parise is the retro-inspired white with the squared of shoulders, sensical striping patterns.
8. Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens
Original 6 jersey, never updated, no piping, no black, no trend-hopping, "living in the past". Designed in the 1917, but the currents most closely reflect the ones from the 40s.
9. Ryan McDonagh, New York Rangers
See Lundqvist
10. Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers
The oilers. The oilers. The team so bad, they should have been relegated to the AHL a decade ago. The team whose "No Good" thread has millions of posts with no signs of slowing down, with no shortage of material. The stupidest bunch of management and owners in professional sports. Even these dimwits know that retro jerseys are superior. Probably a broken-clock thing, but they've gone full retro since 2013. They reverted to their OG COLOURS (noticing a trend?) from an ugly-ass midnight blue they used from 96-12
It's time to accept it, dissen. Black is out. Eyeliner is out. Metal and emo are out. If the whole league goes retro is it even retro anymore?

You can say black is out all you like sun. You can preach it as long as you like but it does not change the fact that it is an official team colour and the retro's are retired except for special events. You may see a New jersey design in the near future but I guarantee it won't be the retro's and you can bank it will have black on it.

Interesting tidbit.
The Blackhawks jersey has the most different colors of any jersey in all of professional sport.

I read that as 'Interesting timbit' at first.

Black is an official colour as much as midnight blue was an official oiler colour, pale gold was an official Penguin colour, teal was an official Capitals colour, etc. They've all returned to their roots and hopefully we will too, but like you, I doubt it. We already have a New Jersey design - the newest thirds. Virtually indistinguishable from the Devils'.
Keep the black if you need to, but at the very least, the template has got to go.

Official colours can change very easily.
The Florida Marlins went from blue, black, and white to orange, purple, yellow, and every other colour in the universe.

I only like the red retros as an alternate uni. But I also liked the Black 3rds which I know I am a minority there.

I wasn't even a Flames fan when they had those jerseys. The retro thirds we had just look better.

I think Boston does have black actually...
Anyway agree with your sentiment. The Flames jerseys are like looking at a Picasso. A really, really ugly one. Ditching black is the obvious (painfully obvious) marketing / aesthetic move.
Same with the stamps actually, red and white.

I like the current Flames jersey. I also like the Alberta flag on it.

The shoulder flags are the worst thing to ever happen to a Flames jersey and are the worst shoulder patches in the NHL. They make no sense since there are two teams in Alberta and seven in Canada and whoever came up with and agreed with the idea of a blue flag on a red, black, and yellow jersey must have been drunk and high. My list of the 5 most horrible Flames jersey features of all time:
1. Flags
2. Horse head
3. Pedestal
4. Vertical striping
5. Word-mark logo
Bring back the retros already. I'd definitely buy a Gaudreau, Monohan, or Brodie.

Why is McDavid gear selling out in Calgary(I don't think people in Vancouver or other Canadian cities would wear gear from another team, when they have stars of their own?
Why is Johnny's gear don't selling at a high rate?
I really wish the Calgary Flames did a better job of marketing their players, so they can sell more gear, I think Ken King is too dull to understanding how to market players.

I would never have guessed Ryan McDonagh to be in the top 10.

Its not the Oilers that marketed McDavid...they won a freaking lottery for the "generational talent" the media had already been pushing for years and will continue to do so
Also Caglary is a great city, a lot of people leave that dump up north to live here...hence the Oiler fans everywhere. And JG stuff does sell well in Calgary, that list is a US based website

Yeah I get that but still he's not exactly a top line player. It would he kind of like Bouma being the 2nd best selling Flames jersey.

Actually, McDonagh is one of the best defensemen in the league and he plays in a premier market. He is probably the Rangers best skater while Bouma is a fringe bottom 6 type.
