If the Jays trade Bautista for a guy like Yasiel Puig, I may have an aneurysm. The Dodgers having been trying to move this guy for over a year. I'd rather lose Bautista in the off-season for the pick than be stuck with Puig.

It's been a rumour for a couple days now and made its way

I can see it happening too. Puig fits the Rogers player evaluation to a tee.

- Known name that the casual baseball fan likely would know and they can push off as a star.

- Poor recent performances leading to potential lower salary demands and needing to prove himself.

- under team control for a couple more years and one year of arbitration.

Puig also has a pretty modest salary to begin with as most of his compensation is signing bonus which I suspect LA would still be in the hook for in any deal.

Well, Jose's bat is still good, but his fielding is horrid. He is only worth 0.6 WAR this season. Puig is worth 1 WAR thus far this season.

At the rate Bautista is going, I would not sign him. Even Pompey would likely be an upgrade overall, which is not good.

I'd rather take the money committed to Jose and give 10 of that to Encarnacion on a 4 year deal (4/100) instead and allow either an internal option to come in or sign someone else in the offseason.

I know TSN and other sports outlets need to pump out rumours involving Bautista but I honestly don't see the Jays trading him. Bautista still adds value to the line up when he's healthy and the Jays, in my opinion, are still very much in a win now mode and trading away one of your best hitters doesn't make much sense.

Puig is bad, but he definitely enjoyed his time when he was in Toronto.

Bautista simply will not be traded. I was listening to a radio interview with (forgot who), who said that because of his years of service he can veto any trade. Given his ties with the Jays, and him taking things personally he'd likely veto and sulk. The Jays are better off with him in the playoffs. Puig is a punk and not as talented as he makes himself out to be. I'm on the side with giving the money to Edwin.
