Well I think that is true of all top line players on the road. But yeah, his road production is partly a team issue.

Lastly, you are the guy who told everyone there was "no way" Stamkos was staying in Tampa because it would have been done sooner rather than later. I'm not big on your idea of what is and isn't fair discussion.

It's a good thing I don't care what you think is fair or not too. What's with all the attitude on here. Long summer indeed

I'm not nearly as concerned with Johnny not scoring on the road as some. Not when it comes to Johnny anyway, It speaks to a bigger problem of this team.
1. This team not having a big skilled winger on the opposite wing to open up space on that top line.
2. Not having consistently good enough scoring on the other lines to take advantage of teams focusing on that number one line.
Solve just one of those problems and I think you improve Johnny's road points. solve both and I think you improve Johnny's road points next year and we have a much better team.
It's a huge asset to have opposing teams feeling like they need to dedicate resources on shutting down one guy, he just needs the proper support to take advantage of that.

There are articles on Flames Nation showing that Gaudreau had a lot of bad luck on the road. Can't access right now.

The Flames are a one-line team and are really, really vulnerable to competent line-matching on the road.

This very true, especially the bolded part, another true top 6 forward would do wonders for this team, if you have a good second line than, teams can't focus their top d pairs and shutdown forwards on just one line, if they do, they will get burned. Monahan line is the #1 line and it is a very good #1 line but we really need to get a legit #2 line going, to take some pressure off the 1st line. The Flames have Backlund, Frolik, Bennett, Brouwer, who are a locks to score at 20 goals, so there are tools to work with, another thing to consider is that our D scored around 41 goals, I don't think it is safe to think they can do that again(they probably can but lets not put all our eggs in one basket).

Flames are hoping to build their second line from within. Bennett is the key piece here, and hopefully long term he and Tkachuk give us a solid #2 line at minimum. The real treat will be if they develop as expected we should end up with two pairs that can anchor what are legitimate 1A & 1B lines.

I was talking more about this season but you are right, Bennett and Tkachuk are going to provide the Flames with a very good 1 2 punch. If Tkachuk can come in and have a great camp, then it can happen more quicker, same with Bennett.

The whole team last season was soft and this showed up in their terrible away record. Getting a couple of physical RWs should help a lot. Johnny was just a reflection of the team's record.
A new coach who's better at getting Gaudreau away from his checkers could also be a big help.

This will get done July 1, no problem. Stampede week no problem. So we wait and nothing not even a sniff of progress. This thread will still to be active after Aug 1. Johnny and Monahan will stick to their guns as they should.
I see this going from what we all maintain 6-7 years down to the players signing 3 in mid August at the same 7m range just to get it done. There is no doubt in my mind Treliving is playing hardball.
I will maintain my original thought on all this from June. You take care of your major pieces early on a team and then fill in. The Flames are definitely going against the norm.
The Flames think their stars should do them a solid and sign for 1m less each and Treliving is negotiating by pointing out what they don't do to accomplish that. Hey Brad how's that working out for you?

Seriously, Roger is giving his opinion to questions from people who asked him for it. If people don't like it, don't ask him and don't read them.
I for one welcome hearing his opinion and while I don't always agree with them, I don't feel a need to rip him down for it.

If I had a penny for every time I heard someone from the media speculate that star player X wanted to play in Toronto, New York, or closer to home only to see that player do none of that, I'd be rich.
Lets face it, media guys like stories and those are really juicy stories but they rarely ever come to fruition.

This 100% has to be because Treliving is a slimy rat.
Or...
You could look at some context:

Just wanted to say that I don't think I've seen a poster that is so aggressive and bullheaded as you are when it comes to discussions on this board. You should try a new approach when confronting others as it really makes you come off as a jerk.

Like this post which serves zero purpose, isn't at all on topic and seeks to insult? If you want to do that, send me a pm. No need for this.

I am not at all confident JG inks the long term contract we would all like to see. I hope I am proven wrong.

I keep thinking it's going to be 5 or 6 years at the most for Johnny's deal.
I hope to be pleasantly surprised though.

How about something like this for Johnny:
6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 9, 9, 10
8 Years 63 million-AAV of 7.875
He gets a massive raise right out of the chute as well as getting handsomely paid for those UFA years at the end.

5 years.
It's a safe bet that it won't be a 5 year contract. It'll either be shorter than that to ensure the Flames still have RFA rights to match any offer sheets when this deal expires, or it will be longer to push his UFA status as far into the future as possible. There are pros and cons to either option, for both the team and player.
