More they have no clear message. Very ineffective other than just making people with no stake in the matter pissed off at you. There is just no leadership and it just groups of people chanting the slogan being as loud as they can be.

Actually they gave a pretty clear list of demands at Pride. What are you talking about?

Black Lives Matter Vancouver Wants Police Float Out Of Pride Parade

CP | By Laura Kane, The Canadian Press
Posted: 07/17/2016 11:24 am EDT

VANCOUVER — Black Lives Matter Vancouver is asking police to voluntarily withdraw their float from the upcoming Pride Parade, as a "show of solidarity and understanding'' that officer involvement in the march creates an unsafe atmosphere for some communities.

The open letter published by the activist group on Friday comes weeks after its Toronto counterparts halted the city's parade until organizers signed off on a list of demands including banning police floats from future marches.

The Vancouver chapter said it stands with Black Lives Matter Toronto in its discontent with police marching in the parade.

While having police on the ground to perform a civil service is understandable, allowing officers to participate on a float is "insulting'' to protesters who made Pride celebrations possible, it said.

Sorry, but this is just cult of victimhood grandstanding. I'm afraid I'd need to see some evidence of systematic and severe oppression of blacks in Vancouver for this to have any credence. Are there really people in Vancouver who will suffer some sort of psychological trauma if they are in the same parade as police?

Rational people need to stand up to this hysteria.

I don't get it either. what exactly does getting a police float kicked out of a gay parade have to do with black lives again? That press release makes no sense what so ever. I think it's safe to assume the police presence is there with the blessing of and not in spite of the organizers, which may come as a surprise to BLM, but that isn't them. Do you want to know why the police are invited? Because it's a good idea and an important part of building acceptance and understanding between groups. something BLM doesn't seem to understand or quite frankly, in my opinion don't really care about doing.
It wasn't that long ago political, social or law enforcement leaders wouldn't be caught dead in a gay parade... It's that kind inclusionary demonstration that brings about change and broadens peoples tolerances and understanding. Again, something BLM doesn't seem to comprehend and quite frankly don't seem to care about, even if it means trouncing on something the LGBTQ community has worked years to establish.

What bizarro-world version of Vancouver are people living in that the VPD being present makes you less safe?

Quite the opposite, folks...

Sadly, I think you're right. So, not so much "unsafe" as "these people represent something that bothers us in some way", or "how dare you confront us with things we dislike or disagree with."

The misuse of the word in this context runs fully into the realm of self-parody.

And 3+ more officers lost their lives thanks to the BLM agenda and narrative being pushed so hard.

Don't get me wrong, there are big issues to deal with here for minorities and blacks specifically, but the way BLM, the media, and Obama have pushed this issue has done nothing but set race relations and police/community relationships back 25 years.

Open the dialogue, invite all stakeholders to participate, and work in small steps towards the future you're looking for. Not this Occupy style "instant change OR ELSE" approach that is being taken.

You'd have to be drunk off Fox Koolaid to think this is the fault of BLM or Obama. Being black and speaking bluntly about the problem isn't THE problem.
