May be more advantages to make trades before the flames announce the contracts. They could be right at the cap and have a compromised bargaining position.

In my opinion, announcing and being close to the cap doesn't really change their bargaining position. Teams are well aware of the position the Flames are in with their two star players and approximately what they'll likely sign for.
The only benefit i can see would be to use the signings as an excuse to try and shed a player/salary. i.e. we love Matt/Dennis and hate having to trade either, but with Johnny and Sean needing new contracts...

Neither can i to be honest, but it's the only reason i could think of for not announcing a deal, if there were one.

I honestly think people are getting way too anxious over a contract signing. We all know they are going to sign for 6-7.5m each for the next 6-8 years, so why the rush? It's only July 15th for crying out loud
