I think it was fine for Jillian and Emmit to change their minds about going for the Express Pass. If they didn't do it and still expected Steph and Kristen to give them the second pass, that would be a bit ridiculous, IMO. If the teams agreed to both try and the winner give the other team the second pass and then the winners gave it to someone else instead, that would still be allowed but would be kind of jerk-like behaviour, IMO.
If four teams went for the Express Pass, the three "losers" would be out of luck. It's almost better in that situation though, because then the three losing teams would be competing against each other at the back of the pack. If only two teams went for it (without the deal) then the losing team would really be in trouble, because they would have put themselves at a big disadvantage, with nothing to show for it.
It was cool to see them in Calgary, getting clues at places I have stood, but I'm glad they're leaving the country next week.
Which team will likely have the biggest meltdown tonight? I want to say Jillian and Emmett but that would be too easy, I was going to go with Julie & Lowell but they seem to pull through most tasks.

really like Joel and Ashley. With the SIM task in Calgary and the Vibrate task in Vietnam they show a lot of patience to carefully learn the task and get it done. They are the favorites now.

I'm so gonna burn when i die. I was caught between laughing my butt off and feeling super bad for the guy with limited vision being directed into that shrubbery at the end by his girlfriend. "Tis but a flesh wound!".

LOL, that's almost a mirror image of any couple putting Ikea furniture together.
But Emmitt does have to listen. When loading the coconuts she merely suggested they work together and each get 30 into the boat. He ignores her and does all 60 which must take longer. Then at the other end he just wants to thrown them up the hill, what if one splits? then they're screwed.

If I had to handicap it right now, I'd put Steph/Kristen on top, with Joel/Ashley and Jillian/Emmett a bit behind them. I don't expect it plays out that way, and probably Jillian/Emmett are the most likely to implode, but at this point those are my picks for the finale.
Almost every team broke my patented first rule of Amazing Race: NEVER pick the dance challenge! Many of them realized their mistake. The judges seemed to be pretty lenient on the people there and they still had trouble.

yup always take the physical task over the technical one, unless that happens to be your specialty.
Although Joel/Ashley are 2/2 on technical detour tasks now.
Next week looks like a riot. Karaoke and Eating worms.

I agree, Steph and Kristen are probably the team to beat right now. Jillian and Emmett are due for a massive blow up which will probably cause them to end up in the back of the pack. They remind me of the ex's couple last year who had a pretty good start but started to implode near the end.

Yeah, they seem to be quite patient and level-headed which has helped them get through the more technical stuff. I would say they burned a LOT of time at that crane simulator though and it nearly cost them.
That means Steph & Kristen lost 3 hours doing the record challenge. Luckily for them, they had a good cushion and now they have the Express Passes.
Doesn't it seem fair that they are all going on the same flight and Jillian and Emmitt have to be at the airport 5 hours while Kelly & Kate sleep. Is Amazing Race always like this?

Yes, ever since Rob and Brennan won (the very first season) and crossed the finish line while another team was still racing in another state.
They were so far ahead that their clue read "Rob and Brennan have crossed the finish line".
Fair or not, it's not good TV to spread the racers around.

By the time they were all in Vietnam, they were likely 36 hours into the leg. At that point, a couple hours at the airport vs sleeping probably doesn't matter much anymore.
