I agree, easiest way to tell wolf from coyote aside from size and the snout is the ears. Wolves are rounded coyotes are pointed.

Yeah, those pictures are about as unclear as I've seen this century, but those do look like coyotes.

Maybe they're coywolves? Global, I think it was, had a segment last year about them being in the area.

I bet dissentowner is glad he didn't drive 3.5 hours to nab some coyotes.

I believe cops are only called if the animals are a direct threat to humans.

I'd agree.

OP, Coyotes can get up to 4.5 feet long and weigh 50lbs, which is close to the size of a small adult wolf. Plus it's still an issue if they are regularly on your property.

Another giveaway is the coat color. Wolves, with the exception of far north populations, will be much darker in color. Grey/redish grey with the light bellies is classic coyote.

Not that I deal with calls about coyotes but if I did and made it there in 3.5 hours from SW Ontario that is some kind of driving on my part!

And now we all know why Fish & Wildlife didn't really seem to care.

I can totally see them having a chuckle on the other end of the phone while OP solemnly demands his neighborhood is being ravaged by wolves.

great read 10/10 would Coyote again, I'm just glad we were able to pull off some serious detective work on those potato photos. Enhance.. Enhance.. ENHANCE. BINGO.

The third one looks scrawny, but the one on the right of the first photo looks like a pretty healthy and fairly big coyote.

We get them all the time in our neighborhood and the basta*ds are more and more brazen. Whatever you can do to make them uncomfortable and move along, the better off you'll be.

Look like coyotes to me. I hunt wolves so I've seen a few over the years; what is in the pictures looks too small to be a wolf.

Loud noises do wonders for coyotes, if you can scare them off with like an old pot and a metal spoon, something like that I'm sure you can deter them.

Is there a food source near your house? Maybe let the neighbors know and maybe they can keep their cats in the house until these pests are gone?

A pellet to the arse and a loud yell gets rid of them for the time being. To get rid of them longer, get rid of food. They're like nice on how they scavenge. They also eat mice so get rid of those too (log piles, debris, etc)
