Darren Haynes Podcast
For anyone looking for some offseason Flames talk, Darren Haynes from http://www.flamesfrom80feet.ca/ has decided to start up a podcast since his spot on FAN960 is on hiatus until next season starts. Excellent work from Darren, as always.
Here is the first episode.

That is horrid audio for someone who put fan960 in the description and says he's on the radio professionally. Darren, you can get a very decent mic for $120ish and you can take it anywhere you take your computer!

He does a better job covering the Flames on his blog than any of the paid beat writers for postmedia

He decided to record it at like 11 PM the other night. Give the guy a break.

And as he said repeatedly, this is his first shot at doing what is a very difficult thing to do: A podcast by yourself. Why invest in over $100 worth of equipment for something that he might not enjoy, people might not listen to and he might not do again?
Watch any popular youtuber's first video, its horrible usually. But they get better the more they do it. If people listen and they like it, then I'd imagine he'll look to improve various things about. For a first attempt by him, this was really well done.

There's been 28 Thankers of the OP and 1,298 views of this thread. There might be enough of an audience to do a CP gofundme for a new mic?

I have an entire podcast setup that I'd sell him. Mic, mixer, phone-in setup, headphones, the whole bit. All good equipment. Reasonably priced.

Yes, that's exactly why I said that. The content and delivery were top notch, especially for a first try. I'd suggest you talk about the content rather than complaining about the audio quality.

Thank you for the suggestion. You've done a great service.
If you're a pro you don't record a "podcast" off your iPhone. I understand your need to protect him as this is the internet, but professional people do not work at this standard, it's lazy. The tech available to someone that works in radio, even on a whim, should mean that even his first attempt would be of decent quality, but I guess it's just the Flames and we should just be happy it's here. Standards aren't important.
