Maybe you'll like it? Maybe you'll find yourself in a situation where somebody needs to drive stick and you can help out? Maybe you'll find a great deal on a cool vehicle that is standard? Maybe the satisfaction of learning a new skill will be reward enough?

There are literally only positives to knowing how to drive stick and a whole bunch of downsides to not knowing. And you can learn in AN HOUR.

That's why it's hard to understand.

All your points lead back to I don't like driving stick so why would I learn? It's not a skill, I know it's easy and could even learn on my car which is tip tronic but I have no use for it. I don't drive for fun I drive to get to point A to point B with as little hassle as possible. Thankfully they invented an automatic transmission that does the shifting for you.

I'll learn stick if you buy a dog, deal?

Hahaha you could learn to drive stick because you have tiptronic? Not the same at all, man.

And how do you know you don't like driving stick if you have never learned?

It is a skill, and it can help you get from point A to point B with as little hassle as possible if you're ever in a situation where the only vehicle available is a stick.

If you don't want to learn to drive stick you don't have to, but it's objectively better to know how.

It is a skill, and if you could learn "easy" I can only put it down to laziness. Try double clutching a large heavy vehicle. That is full on a skill. Even a simple vehicle, say BOSSY's for instance. It is a skill to get that vehicle away from the line smoothly. A good driver can do it in a stick without a hiccup.

So to be clear, once more, you don't know how to drive stick.

A vehicle like BOSSY's will get you from A to B with little hassle....wait unless you have no idea how to drive a stick.

Mmm, had a 91 Passat wagon in the early 2000s that I loved. That was such a sweet car. Best part was the windshield washer fluid reservoir held like 8 liters or something crazy. Basically filled it up annually.

I LOVE manual transmission wagons (I've been drooling over a Volvo v70R since...forever).

But you guys being evangelical about 3 pedals need to calm down...it's almost as bad (and ineffective) as a vegan trying to convince someone to change their diet.

I'm about to move, so can't buy this car, but I always look at this thread. Such a great car! I have had two different 2002 and 2003 Jetta VR6s which were amazingly fun and torquey. Also very reliable. This would be the slightly larger, more powerful equivalent.

Someone buy this guy's car!
