Btw, only two teams in the tournament have scored in each of their games, Wales and Iceland. Not so surprising they've gone far.

Graziano Pelle said he wants to "apologise to all Italians" for his penalty miss in Saturday night's Euro 2016 quarterfinal clash between Italy and Germany.

And Pelle, who missed one of the decisive spotkicks, has come under criticism for his gesture towards Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in the shootout where he implied he was about to do a Panenka-style chip.
http://www.espnfc.us/italy/story/290...iss-vs-germany

Yeah, I thought his gesture to Neuer was really cocky.

I have to say that I like that the Italians got knocked out on penalties. Pelle's cocky little gesture to Neuer followed up by arguably the worst penalty ever taken and Zaza skying his shot after his ridiculous runup and Bonucci's miss after doing his stupid little stutter-step.

Yeah just so ridiculously disrespectful. Take the shootout seriously! Don't these guys know they are hacks and the shootout has been a source of Italian heartbreak for legends in the game? As the Italians on here know full well, Italy went out of 3 consecutive World Cups on penalties, and the 4th deep into extra time in that ludicrous game n Daejeon.

Buffon guessed right nearly every time and lost cause of these bozos.

With Conte leaving and the BBC defense getting old, Italy is in deep trouble

Going forward is going to be tough, no Gomez who I thought has been very effective, Khedira and Schweinsteiger are doubtful and Hummels is banned against France.

But the Germans are the Germans and they roll on.

Rarely have more German words been spoken:

Quote:
Sami Khedira watched most of the game from the sideline after limping off in the 12th minute, but he said injuries won't make Germany an easier target in the semifinal.

"The Mannschaft has played like one big team," Khedira said. "We didn't really allow them anything. We were very unlucky to concede.

"Mario Gomez and I had to come off. We now have some ailing players, which is normal in such a big tournament. We will once more field a competitive side in the semifinal."

Also, it's the second tournament in a row where the Germans meet the hosts in the semifinals.

Rough day, my sister passed away this afternoon and then we lost to France, but we got the 2 goals, "won the 2nd half" and this team should be proud and the whole nation celebrated their success despite the loss.

France is impressive, I hope they win.

Fantastic tournament by Iceland. Played with heart every single minute of every match. The story had to come to an end, but it doesn't take anything away from Iceland. Well done. Also, I was so pissed at the France players celebrating their first half goals like they just won the world cup. OK, you are obviously out-classing Iceland, and filling their net. Raise your arms, and go back to your half. Nothing more.

I suppose that is a pet peeve of mine on a broader scale with how a lot of soccer players celebrate goals.

Very happy with the Germany result. Have they missed a semi final since 2004? So much consistency.
