I sort of figured this was going to happen. Its how these Cinderella stories typically end, in ashes.

Why was that dude picking Griezmann's nose? Is this a French custom of which I am unaware?

Escape To Victory the Allies were down 4-0 at the half. Iceland should really escape thought the tunnel though

It's actually N'golo Kante that's getting the most Real heat right now. I was hoping to be able to watch him more today, but it's what the team needs for sure.

Well, I suppose I have the rest of Sunday to do something useful now.

Cue the "Iceland never deserved to get this far" nay-sayers, based on 1 game. Well, all I have to say to that is: Germany 7, Brazil 1. Kudos to a team that got as far as they did mostly on will over skill.

Iceland deserve to be here, they've played well and should have beat Hungary too. France are just too good. This mostly underscores how horrible England is to have been totally outplayed by Iceland.

France is also just a much better team than England, and they have a much better strategy. France lets Iceland keep the ball at times to draw them out of their shell, and they have a much more mobile and creative offense that's given the freedom to challenge Icelands defense. They don't mind trading chances if it comes to that, because the difference in individual skill is so lopsided.

England (like Portugal IIRC) was obsessed with keeping the ball and avoiding counter-attacks, which stopped them from taking enough chances in the offensive end and turned the game into a slow chess match that fit Iceland perfectly.

I'm conflicted. On one hand great to see Iceland rewarded.

On the other hand that goal cost me 20 fantasy pool points.

Seven Nation Army, Song 2 and Zombie Nation should be banned in sporting venues.

West Ham fans have to hate this tournament. England lost and Payet is a goner.

Coming from a country which has exactly two variations of hockey chants ("Go X Go", or "Let's Go X") I find complaints like these more than a little funny

While true, they're going to get paid for Payet.

I almost feel sorry for Iceland. Almost. Then I remember they kicked out both of my teams, so as far as I'm concerned they can go pound sand

Because my argument was that our chants were superior obviously.

Might as well put Eider Gudjonsson on now. Nothing to lose.
