I will reserve judgement until he plays some games in a flames jersey.

Brouwer makes the Flames a better team - exactly the type of player needed and an upgrade on Colborne

Three biggest holes on the roster: goal RW and size

Hiller and Ramo $8.5M

Elliott Johnson Brouwer and Chiasson $9.5M

And some people are upset?

Quoting this because it's a really good point. Also coincided with the Blues finally going on a playoff run...

I like it.

Gaudreau- Monahan- Brouwer
Tkachuk- Bennett- Frolik
Bouma- Backlund- Hathaway
Ferland- Stajan- Chiasson

Bollig

Giordano- Brodie
Hamilton- Jokkipaka
Nakladal- Engelland

Wotherspoon

Elliot
Johnson

Playoffs!

Just have to find a way to lose Wideman and Bollig. Will be interesting to see how Shinkaruk, Poirer, and Klimchuck do in camp as well.

Brouwer is great. Fits what the Flames are trying to build here and the value and term are fair. Good signing treliving!

I wanted the Flames to acquire him back when the Hawks first had to ship him out. Great role player that can put up a few points. Makes the team harder to play against for sure.

The secondary positive effect of signing someone like Brouwer is that he'll help young guys like Ferland and Hathaway. He knows how to play a heavy game, and I think we were missing an on-ice mentor for those guys.

as mentioned on the FAN he went into a Washington locker room with some established players and had the respect of others to be able to call out players and was also similar in a Blues locker room which had some notable players as well. Will be great for our young players.

One other thing he brings to the team...

He can line up against and neutralize Lucic when the Oil try to get him out against Johnny

Really hope Brower isnt the answer on the top line. Replaces Colborne on the 2nd line and that's where 40 point player play.

The same people. The same people that are always upset, are upset.

Also surprised at posters consigning this Brouwer signing to the same fate as the back end of our Glencross experience

I was among many posters sour with Glencross. But it wasn't because he didn't score goals; it was because his effort was noticeably poor. With a player like Brouwer, you don't get cheated for on-ice effort.

This is a guy who could wear an 'A'.

This is a guy who could ride shotgun on the 1st line & Johnny could bounce pucks in off his head. He's not a 1st line talent, but he provides a lot of complementary attributes for our 2 star forwards.

This is a Stanley Cup winner & a leader.

This is a guy who fills an organisational need which hasn't been addressed in 5 years.

No, it is not a bargain contract by any means, but I'm glad we got ourselves the player.

Everyone seems to be too hung up on which line players play on and what their label is. A line up is fluid and changes a ridiculous amount throughout a season. Heck, it changes throughout a game depending on who you're playing, who's hot, etc.

Brouwer will be a valuable player. He brings much more to the table than Colborne

I'd be more concerned if we had Colborne penciled in as our 2nd line player than Brouwer as a first liner in July. He was a top 6 on good caps and blues teams. There won't be any post game threads about brouwer being soft or not competing and yet will still put up close to 20 goals a season.

Still not a playoff lineup. One line that scores unless Bennett can turn a corner

I think Tkachuk spends the season in London if he doesn't make the Flames

Gone are the days of sending NHL ready players back to play with kids for stupid reasons.
