Based on the TSN interview he should be the team leader in "ya know"s.
Good team player willing to mentor young guys, should be good in the room, and clearly really wants to be here. I think those factors are important.

Players by Points Per 60 Minutes
Johnny Gaudreau: 2.97
Sean Monahan: 2.44
Joe Colborne: 2.38
Mikael Backlund: 2.09
Michael Frolik: 1.90
Sam Bennett: 1.85
Troy Brouwer: 1.68
Mark Giordano: 1.65
Dougie Hamilton: 1.59
TJ Brodie: 1.53
Michael Ferland: 1.21
Dennis Wideman: 1.08
Josh Jooris: 1.08
Matt Stajan: 1.00
Lance Bouma: 0.79
Deryk Engelland: 0.69
Brandon Bollig: 0.48
Ladislav Smid: 0.00
Brouwer had less power play time than many of the Flames above him. He also brings several intangibles to the game. But based purely on points per 60 minutes, he's more of a good third liner.

also when is it reasonable to expect the nm/nt clauses to come out on these deals?

If Colborne re-signs now, it's going to be really cheap.

Unless we trade Wideman or someone else there is no money for Colborne

only possible if Smid semi-retires or Wideman is traded. As things stand, we have a shade over 15m to re-sign Gaudreau and Monahan. No room for Colborne.

How is this a bad deal he is a much more rounded player than okoposo and even Ladd and he signed for quite a bit less and less term I think this will be a good signing

Maybe so, but you have to remember who he may be playing with this coming year, you never know with such dynamic linemates he may flourish. I can't comment too much on many UFA signings that come here since I never see them play night after night, like many here. I reserve judgement for when we get a decent number of games in first. Always the optimist until proven otherwise.

I just hope we package them and trade them for a top 6 forward.

The argument is Brouwer is a 3rd liner (2nd at best) and in his 30's. But we'll see how next year goes.
Could go either way.

I feel one of the things getting overlooked is how well our team is set up for the timing of our contracts expiring.
Next season, all our tougher cap hit contracts on the backend expire, along with Bollig. The following year, Stajan, Backlund and Bouma come up, right when Bennett will be due for his second contract. Team is well set up to re-sign key pieces and continuously make moves to try and tweak the roster.

Call it what you want but he was a 2nd liner for the Blues and the caps prior. For a team with no rw depth his value to us is much beyond a 3rd liner.

Absolutely no chance Frolik gets bumped behind Chiasson. Especially with two youngsters on that 2nd line

Yes, but unless he goes off for 70+ points he'll likely be getting a bridge deal around $4 million per.
If he puts up 60ish, that one year isn't going to get him a deal like Monahan is likely about to get because Monahan did it two years straight.
One of the disadvantages for the player burning off a year the way Bennett did in the playoffs.
Gaudreau went 60 points / 80 points that's why he's going to get paid.
Monahan went 30 points/ 60 points / 60 points.
bennett so far is 30 points / ?? points.
(rough numbers)
