It's right there in the chart. Not sure why you would bother comparing two players wiht such different roles.

Who determines the role? A person or an algorithm?

We got Brouwer, Johnson and Elliott for the same cost +400k as what the Flames paid their disasterous goaltending last year, and I didn't even add Ortios pricetag.

Those HERO charts turned stupid the day someone here posted the one with Justin Schutlz and it showed him being a top 4 guy. They're garbage and yet they get trotted out like the gospel every 2nd post.
As for Brouwer I think it's a fair deal. It's quite obvious who here hasn't watched him play all that much and simply pulled up hockeydb to comment on him. He's exactly what we needed for our young forwards. Not the sexiest name out there. But since when did sexy win you the cup?
Solid deal and I really like the term.

That the charts aren't useful when comparing non-comparable players.
People are using them to do just that. Thus bad.

I'm happy with this. The term takes him to 34 which is fine, he should still be a solid contributor at that point. 4.5 AAV for a .5 ppg, gritty two way forward with leadership seems about right in today's landscape.
Not to mention, if he plays on the top line for any significant time I could see him putting up 50-60 pts.

Those two role aren't comparable. Glencross was a healthy scratch for the Flames towards the end, as he was for the Capitals in the playoffs. Maybe Curtis' role should be changed to "bit player".
Flawed chart.

Both Glencross and Brouwer played very similar minutes in their most recent seasons. This isn't somebody going through and abstractly designating players as 2nd, 3rd, 4th liners, etc.

Impact player money, for a guy who I do not feel is an impact player.
There were far better deals deals signed by what I consider better and more useful players today.
Not a fan of this. Smells like the Engelland contract, where the club overpaid for a guy because they've got their heart set on acquiring one specific player in mind and are willing to win a bidding war to get him.

I've only just skimmed the numbers, but for example, Brouwer delivers about twice as many hits as Glencross did. So no, not totally comparable ...

Couple of things overlooked with Brouwer that don't show up in points, or on his hero charts.
Averaged 1:30 on the PK per game - for a team that had the 3rd ranked PK in the NHL.
Started only 40% of his shifts in the offensive zone, and his line played a lot of the heavy defensive minutes in St.Louis.
Still think it's a year too long, and about $1M too much, but that is the UFA tax. Not a huge fan but he fills a lot of holes on this team (PK, RW, Physical)

I really don't think they are. Consider style and role alone. Not to mention that Glencross was notorious for checking out mentally for stretches of games. The majority of his points came in the 40% of the season he gave a ####. Once put on a contender in Washington he was lost because that kind of effort and attitude will not put you into big game situations.
Brouwer is the antithesis of a Glencross. 100% for all 82+, plays a physical and aggressive style, gets the hard-nosed goals that you need to win a game 7 against a team like the Blackhawks, and can be put anywhere in the lineup.
I just don't believe there is any real comparison to be made there, sorry.

Similar AAV as Frolik and the same contract end date.
I think the contract makes sense.
Also, Brouwer will be 34 when this contact ends, which prevents his next contract from being a 35+ contract.
