Ya know..... I was thinking.....

if North Koreas leader pushes China's buttons too much... it's precisely what the U.S. would want.

Good thought for a topic, even one I would like.

But I'm getting at the grasping of straws here...

Lets not get facts or politics get in the way of (Fox) reporting.

Read the story... Crazy...

Yeah I wasn't trying to derail ya there bud. Just saying. But anyways, everybody knows Fox is a joke, and any news thats reported there is definitely taken with a heap of salt. Especially after Clinton went buck wild on them.

I won't be in the business of defending Fox News but the the story clearly states the claim of a meeting is attributed to North Korean television:

With tensions rising, North Korea's Kim met his top brass and urged them to bolster the nation's defenses, the North's official Korean Central News Agency said. Officers greeted him with rousing cheers of "Fight at the cost of our lives!"

The Fox account in turn quite accurately states "it was unclear when the rally took place, or how many attended."

Doctored photo?

There's actually been quite a bit of Fox-navel gazing lately as they celebrated their 10th anniversary. One example:

http://www.usatoday.com/life/televis...fox-news_x.htm

A biased examination published in the LA Times.

http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/...ome-commentary

And an interesting and accurate analysis of new media in the Washington Post today.

They have the photo but they don't know when it took place...

Nor did they have significant estimation of the crowd...

(both their own words in the story, and I could go on from there)

Were they there? Did they even report?

SCARE TACTIC.

And really take a look at the photo.

I saw this story on every other news site. Did you notice how it says contributions by AP? That's because AP already wrote this story and it was on every other site they too didn't no where or when.

Here's a very similar article from CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapc...ear/index.html

Are they to be accused of scare tactics too?

Good call Doors, it's easy to out Fox

All news agencies sensationalize

You'll notice they didn't use the funny pic, nor did they comment on something third hand.

'we're they there, did we see them?' (para, see original)

those type of questions rang true with the Fox reporting

Hmmmm... Still trying to see where youa re going with this. This footage was one Korean TV.... whichis easily seen here in Japan

Did they, god forbid, doctor it?

This "hate Fox" because they aren't socialist enough is going a bit far.

This is NOTHING like the photoshopping of AP during the recent fight in Lebenon or NYT photographer/ terrorist/ pulitzer prize winner.

Agreed, that was bad, but this is weird too. Esp the quote.

They imply fear while stating they don't know anything about it. AND add a shopped photo.

You are right, the bombing doctored photos were terrible and another show of bad media, I am just bring this one to light.

Bringing this one to light? What did they sensationalize? They actually came out and said that they don;t know how many people were demonstrating and were unsure of the date of the picture. It's a Stalinist state. All the other articles back this speach by Kim up.

Where is the scare tactic?

I'm scratching my head here.

They, uh, didn't say they did.

Nor did they have significant estimation of the crowd...

After attributing, accurately, the information available to the North Korean News Agency, the news story then said, quite accurately: "it was unclear when the rally took place, or how many attended."

(both their own words in the story, and I could go on from there)

Well, please go on.

Were they there? Did they even report?

They very clearly and accurately attribute that North Korean Television was broadcasting the information in hand. Its common practice to monitor and report on such broadcasts from a closed society.

SCARE TACTIC.

Well, someone is certainly looking to scare people in this thread but you should probably be looking in the mirror on this particular topic.

And really take a look at the photo

Looks like a still lifted it from the North Korean broadcast . . . . You know, BBC.com, a well-know organ of the American religious right, is currently using a similar photo, if not the same one, at the link below:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/5412146.stm

Doctored? Maybe by North Korea, which wouldn't be a surprise.

Its certainly not difficult to provide evidence of right wing bias at FOX. Amazingly, you've flubbed the task with this fairly innocuous story.

That's exactly my point! I'mnot calling them out on misreporting. I'm calling them out for reporting nothing.

'We don't know what happened, but we want to mention N. Korea so you'll remember them and be scared.'

That's my point.

There is NO story. But they continuing a loop of fear. And yes, some of it comes from other sources. Lots of sources to blame, but this got a serious question mark out of me.

You misunderstand again. (misunderestimate? )

I'm glad I am back to flubbing, arguments with Cow and DFF, its like old times.

But seriously, you missed my point. They are not misreporting, they are spreading fear with no story.

I think its tough to look at Fox News presentations as being anything other than unbiased garbage. Of course, the same is true for most other newspapers, right or left, they've all got their own agendas. Fox just seems to pursue theirs a little more overtly than, say, the NY Times.

I would disagree. I would say that the NY Times agenda is further left than Fox news is to the right.

'We don't know what happened, but we want to mention N. Korea so you'll remember them and be scared.'

That's my point.

There is NO story.

Apparently, every editor in the world appears to disagree with you, including BBC.com and Al Jazeera who have all filed essentially the same story, facts and picture, all treated in essentially the same way.

The story says that North Korean television showed a clip indicating certain statements were made at a certain event. Those facts, if they are true, are properly attributed to North Korean television.

Essentially, you're accusing FOX television of collarborating with North Korea to create a climate of fear. And accusing BBC of the same thing. CBC, CNN, etc, etc. . . . .

But they continuing a loop of fear.

As I said, that story and that picture is everywhere right now. Tying to pin something on FOX in this instance makes you look hopelessly desperate.

Even I can make a slam dunk case against FOX with no visible effort yet you've somehow bolloxed the task.

As I said, the only scaremongering going on here is with yourself.

You misunderstand again. (misunderestimate? )

Not likely.

I'm glad I am back to flubbing, arguments with Cow and DFF, its like old times.

Not for long. . . . I'm off for the long weekend and Hawaii beckons shortly thereafter.

But seriously, you missed my point. They are not misreporting, they are spreading fear with no story.

The point you're missing and are now forced to unambiguously concede is that this story and a picture you claim is doctored - yet appeared on North Korean television - is available on pretty much any news outlet in the world right now, including many considered slanted to the left.

Ergo, the common sense analysis is this is a garden variety topic treated in a garden variety way.

Anyway, **** it . . . . I've got things to do.
