Yeah no wonder every other team was unwilling to match that. Can we stop pretending Chiarelli is a competent GM now? That's terribad.

I know right?

it's not that one guy rolled over calgary when playing with LA, an infinitely better team than the Oilers are....

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Blah, blah, blah blah blah!!! We hear this same crap every year on July 1.

Perhaps, but maybe not quite that much or for that long.

Four #1 picks, a 3, a 4 a 6...

hard to believe, but eventually, the Oilers will get better...when you pick in the lottery 7 consecutive years, its absolutely impossible not to get better. The fact the oilers STILL suck, just shows what a disaster that franchise it.

Lucic won't be the reason for their improvement IF they improve

How on earth is Lucic planning on keeping up with McDavid? Rockets in his skates? He'll be puffing back at the red line while Connor is getting hammered by 3 guys in the offensive zone.

You really think teams were lining up to give $42 million to Lucic? I'd be surprised if any other team offered more than 5x6.

Lol. Lucic says only reason he signed is McDavid but wouldn't confirm that they guaranteed him to be on the same line. He went out of his way to not deny it too though.

Bad contract and one that might potentially hurt the oilers down the road. But truthfully I'm not concerned about that. It seems were all banking on that to somehow hurt the oilers in the end. To me this make the oilers better and that concerns me. They have the biggest, baddest hot head in the league now and we'll see him run our guys game after game I feel.

Sure we played Lucic when he was with LA and he might have seemed more in control. But his role there wasn't it's going to be in Edmonton. He's going to be counted on to be a pest and run people over.

Not liking this signing at all.

This will be great for 3 maybe 4 years but down hill quickly after that. Can Lucic even keep up with McDavid?

Lucic isn't exactly Lindros v2.0

The Flames have played him before and survived, he isn't some out of this world physical force. They'll be fine.

wait, the LA Kings, the masters of "playing heavy", didn't want Lucic running over people?!

that's the only way Lucic can play to be effective. Everyone knows when Lucic plays soft, he's a liability on the ice... That's why the 7 year term is awesome for Calgary. No way he is able to play that style for 7 years.

Nothing could be worse than Edmonton getting McDavid... anyone other forward, quite frankly, doesn't move the needle for me.... Now if they get a legit #2 D that can man the PP, then it'll be time to be worried.

He's too slow to do any real damage to our guys, not to mention I look forward to years of him taking stupid penalties against us!
