Someone is going to have to tell me why they want Connolly. Never scored more than 12 goals or 25 points in a season. Bounced around a few different teams so far. Seems like a huge bust to me.

And why is Jimmy Hayes a better option? IMO, they're one and the same except Connelly would be cheaper to get.

Because he's kinda young and new and has potential, blah blah blah....
It's the shiny new toy syndrome, someone else's crap must be better than my crap.
For a team with a lot of veterans and not much young talent, maybe Connelly is a good fit. The Flames are not a good fit for Connelly. Flames need veterans who can play.

Bigger, tougher, more established as an NHLer IMO. He had 19 goals one season ago.
Besides, that's a trade proposal to get rid of Wideman's contract. Win-win.
