You really have to wonder if the Canucks would bite on Jankowski for their first round pick in 2017.

I like Jooris. I think he is a good buzzsaw on the fourth line. He also seems like a good teammate and is likeable. However, so is any number of young kids in Stockton.
Completely expendable.

Good! I hope to see Jooris and Knight become NHL'ers in Van. I mean Jooris already kind of was an NHL'er but a full time 82 gamer is what I suspect.

I don't doubt that the Canucks have called the Flames inquiring about Jankoswki.

Meh. I'd rather have Jooris than Chiasson. That said it's an 10~ min a night role.

Nobody's mentioned Knight yet, but I watched him play a decent chunk of games for Florida this year. The kid was very solid at both ends of the ice. Not spectacular, but did a very good job all the same and made smart plays at both ends of the ice. His skills aren't exceptional, but he's very dependable.
He stepped up and played well filling in for injuries, and he scored some key points playing mostly 4th line minutes, occasionally moving up to the 3rd line. Had 7 points in 20 games for the Panthers, and 24 points in 36 games for San Antonio last year. If the Canucks are looking to fill out a roster with solid players on the cheap, they could do a lot worse than Knight.

It's not really that unfortunate as we probably would have let Knight walk also. He'd be too far down the depth chart regardless.

Realistically though, what can you expect in return? A 1st would be silly of them though I wouldn't put anything past Benning but if it's a second or some other prospect, Flames might as well keep him since they've taken the time to develop him to this point and haven't even had a chance to look at a decent sample size of how he looks yet.

Easily replaced if he signs with the Nucks. No loss here.

Jooris is a fine fourth liner, so unless he's signed to more than 1m per or for longer than 2 seasons they can't really screw it up. Knight isn't getting signed to any deal that doesn't allow them to bury him the AHL.
So place your bets as to which of those Benning gets wrong, I guess?

While perhaps to a lesser extent, Bouma and Ferland are playing in similarly dangerous waters.

Hathaway is way grittier. And a guy who will piss other players off. Jooris was softer than baby food! Shocked he's even getting looks for other teams.

You also have to wonder how much of some of that was Hartley who both had his favourites, and, preached so much about not taking penalties that some of these guys seemed to lose the intangibles that got them here.
Jooris was one of the best players in the pre season two years ago and played very well when returning from injury.
Not saying a Hartley held them back from being superstars but there was a lot of guys who didn't like his style. So we will see for guys like Bouma and Ferland, what they have or what they don't in fairly short order. Goes for a lot of guys from the last couple years.

Jooris came out of no where and earned a spot on the team. It sends a message to other prospects that if you win the spot, they will find you a spot.
It sends a good message to the other prospects.
Hope it works out for Jooris whereever he lands.

Top tier two-way centerman Markus Granlund, offensive dynamo Sven Baertschi, and now elite energy forward Josh Jooris. I'm not sure how much more of this "brain drain" Calgary can sustain before we have to just concede the division to Vancouver before the season even starts.

I can't wait until Desjardins gets fired early in the season and Troy Ward is handed the reins.
