Just for the Oilers. Rest of the league will treat chia-pet similar to Feaster. Low ball him till he caves.

Yeah, if he was going to take a beating on a trade it should have been on RNH or Eberle. Sadly Hall was their biggest chip. The more you think about it i think the poster who brought up this might be driven by Lucic makes me think that might be the case.

Or maybe hall just wasn't worth near what oiler fans tried to convince us he was.
I laugh at all the oil who are still convinced hall > gaudreau. I know if we traded gaudreau for a #3 defenseman I'd be rioting canucks style.

Chiarelli had no choice but take less than average value; it was well known teams are concerned about the losing culture in Edmonton and that they were desperate for a RHD. They may have taken a loss on this deal but it is going to help them in the long run.

I do agree with one thing though, it certainly sets the price for the other 2 pieces of Edmontons 6x6 club. If the best one of them only returned Larsson, imagine how little was offered for Eberle or RNH. Hell add Yakupov to that list. Their 4 golden boys before they lucked out on McDavid and collectively they're worth #### all.

Say what you want about Hamilton, but this is why Treliving's trade last year was such a massive coup.

I am sure Larsson is better than Gudbransen but I don't suspect by much. The Csnucks paid a fairly high price but was more comparable to the flames price for Hamilton than the Oilers price for Larsson.

But Johansen is a centre. A big, #1 centre is worth considerably more than a high scoring one way winger. Wingers are the least valuable of the skater positions.
And this is why I would've taken a dman over Nylander this draft. Top pairing dman are worth more than a finesse 1st line winger.

That's okay. They don't have anything left to trade anyway (that they would part with). Maybe next summer RNH and Eberle are traded for 2nd round picks so they can sign new $6m forwards?

He's quite a bit better than Gudbranson, and this is coming from a Gudbranson fan.

I don't think this sets any prices. I think it was purely a function of Edmonton's desperation, combined with a bit of league-wide punishment for their completely unjustified, yet almost boundless arrogance over the past several years.
I honestly think the collective GMs said: enough with the lottery wins and the smugness, we're discounting the value of your players.
All else equal, Hall is worth more - way more - than Larsson. Period.

This does nothing to the rest of the league. All this has done is set the trade value for the rest of the Oilers. If Chiarreli now wants to move Eberle or RNH, how do you tell another GM that you expect a better player than Larsson in return? He's already moved his best asset for relative peanuts.

We can really laugh at some Oiler fans who thought:
