And I can't help but keep repeating something I'm not seeing mentioned enough:

This was trading a top line LW for a developing #2/3 D.

A top line LW should have landed an established #2 D. But it didn't, because Oilers.


Now Larsson, as good as he is at 23, is going to be labeled "the solution" and thrust into a #1 role on the most putrid defense in the NHL.

There is a very good chance this could stunt his growth / see him take a step back.

I can't believe Edmonton did this deal. What does Chiarelli have against Taylor/Tyler's? He didn't learn the first time that no matter how many good players you have, you can't just give away talent? The guys at the TSN panel are being politicians when they say this is the price of a d-man. It's a terrible trade for a 2nd tier d-man. Today's dumb deals highlight the different between smart GM's and dumb ones. Even worse was that no other GM's ponied up better d-men to sweeten the pot. To me it's actually bothersome that the Oilers can't even make a decent trade with a good asset to deal. Endless chances to draft #1 and it's not looking that much up in the future.

He's a top "offensive" winger - with low hockey IQ, and like Phil Kessel, an excellent player to have in a complimentary role.

He's not a top 3 LW. He is probably worth 6 but not good enough for 7 IMO.

There is a part of me that believes one day Hall will be a Flame. And on that day, I hope he is amazing and crushes all the spirit remaining in Mulletville.

But until then, he's pretty meh: good offence, broken-controller defence.
