suggesting Klefbom, Larsson and Davidson are 'middle of the pack' as a top 3 is laughable

That's a good deal for the Oilers.

I guess Chiarelli did mentor Benning and Sweeney lol. Guy is so overrated.

How good is Taylor Hall anyways? Never scored more than 27 goals. Never played a playoff game. Gaudreau and Monahan have both topped that already. Larsson might actually be fair market value.

The people who think Taylor Hall is a star player in the NHL likely said the same thing about Ryan Smyth.

Don't really see a Brodie, but a left-shot Seabrook maybe.

Larsson is easily a top pairing guy even if he's not a #1. Only one defenseman in the entire NHL the past two seasons has played as tough quality of minutes - his own partner Andy Greene. The gap between that pair's difficulty of minutes and any other pair in the league the last two years is not insignificant - they're on an island.
That only matters if they actually excelled in that situation. But they didn't.

Getting tough minutes doesn't make you great, it simply means your coach didn't have other choices.

I feel bad for Larson. There is going to be some much pressure on him because he was traded for Hall

Yeah I have to say Chia is not selling this well to Oiler media/fans.

Talking more about Hall than Larsson and laughing at questions before he answers them.

Guy has had an 80 point season...I am no Oiler fan but you can't deny he is a good player.

That goes to show how valued the Oilers coveted forwards are around the league. RNH and Eberle obviously couldn't get this deal done and no other teams were willing to give up a defenseman for Hall or any of these guys as the best they could get was Larson and then Dumba.

So the past couple of years the Oil traded Hall, a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder to upgrade their blueline with Reinhart and Larsson. Interesting.

It's a bad deal today and a good deal at the same time. Hall was the poster boy for the problems there and should've been shipped out a while ago. Just a dumb player.

This might actually work out for them ok.

Larsson is -0.5% FFRel despite being the pair being buried like no other pair in the NHL.

Anyways since CP is a poor place to have any level-headed discussion of an Oilers player I'm done with the topic.

What is your definition of excelling? They did pretty damn good considering the forwards in front of them couldn't score a goal.

3rd best even strength scorer (p/60) in the NHL in the past 3 years, behind only Crosby and Benn.
