Based on what exactly? I mean he was a winner in junior when he led his team to two straight Memorial Cups. He may have dealt with terrible systems, but this was a consensus top two guy in the draft. They may have ruined him somewhat, but he's fine. People said the same thing about Phil Kessel and he's about to enjoy a day with the Stanley Cup.

Seguin sure looks fine in Dallas. Patrick Kane also appears to have a bad attitude, and he's doing fine in Chicago. Elite scorers are the rarest type of player. They would've been smarter to get better leadership around him.

Nope - and IMO it's not that close either.

You knew the lopsided trade was coming when Oilers media started talking about less than ideal returns for the last few days.

He's around Jokipakka range.

This is gold.

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
It is a straight one-for-one deal. Hall for Larsson.

@brentmielke Clears a roster spot for next year's first-overall draft pick.

As an Oil fan I'm pretty upset with the return but it just goes to show you what the value of Hall was. Imagine Eberle and RNH.

Yeah. We lost the trade. Saw this coming from a mile away.

A thousand times this.

"Character" and "attitude" are trotted out far too often. I don't care if the dudes hunts dolphins for sport if he can help the team win.

Larsson is a good player, but this is absurd asset management.

Hell, the last Hour Ryan Rishaug set the table for the massive disappointment that was looming.

Surprised Edmonton didn't throw in David Putney just because Shero felt like it.

I honestly like it for the Oilers. If you're focused on player to player yeah it's not hot, but Hall was a cancer in that organisation and pretty much a symbol of their failed philosophy.

The Oilers are better today than they were yesterday.

Dreger: Taylor Hall is a terrific player. So either we collectively as a hockey society overvalued him, or undervalued Adam Larsson. When you first try to make sense of this one-for-one trade...it doesn't seem to equate. It seems to be a bit of a misfit.

the thing that'll always stand out to me was his reaction after Calgarys 8-1 win. The guy sat there in the dressing room, told the reporters "it's not embarrassing, we're never embarrassed in this room" and looked as if he didn't care. Personally, I think you don't want a guy like that as a leader.

I don't think this trade happens without Lucic signing.

Brutal.
