Connelly would be my target. He impressed me after watching him play as a 16 year old against drafted Myers and Backlund and was the best player on the ice.

We've got our reclamation projector for 2016/2017, it's Alex Chiasson. No one else is needed.

0 interest in Connolly.

Ya, I'm not a big fan of "bargain bin" players at this point. The team has a good one in Chiasson and if they really want one, they can go after Nisch from the Stars. Either get an actual good player through trade or UFA or just go with what they already have.

Still hoping our targets are RFA's like Hayes or Krieder who would fit with out top 6. Also flipping Wideman for a veteran wing. Otherwise let's give the prospects a chance to make the team.

Having said that Treliving made a big play firing Hartley. The expectstion is the team takes a big step forward this year. Is acquiring Elliot and hoping for internal improvement from younger players enough to go from 26th overall to the playoffs?

I don't know if I want a bargain bin RW to play with Johnny and Mony. It might be premature to say, but I feel like with Elliot in net, the Flames are a firm playoff team. Why waste a playoff chance with a so-so RW?

I hope Brad trades for a big ticket RW if Lucic can't be had via FA and converted to a RW. But it would be awesome to have that much grit on the top two lines (Lucic, Tkachuk & Bennett).

Gotta say, most of those options look worth exploring. Marchessault perhaps?
Is Jamie Lundmark still available and if so, does he play RW?

Of that list, Marchessault would be the one that I'd love Treliving to go after. The kid's a little buzzsaw. He's a little vertically challenged, but he's also insane on the forecheck. It seems he always pushes the play toward the right zone and we need more players like that regardless of size.

Plus, Treliving would be able to get him for dirt cheap since he has little NHL experience.

Why do we have to look in he bargain bin? Rather acquire a top level or mid level free agent than somebody's cast off.

I'd rather reclaim Connolly than Chiasson if I had the option.

Just for the low cost and risk. Then again, why can't we have both? But remember both Savard and St. Louis were cast offs. For me, I think Connolly can still be a top 6 forward and I think he will be a Calgary Flame.
