Nichuskin going back to the KHL?
or just a negotiating tactic with Dallas?
Aivis Kalniņš @A_Kalnins
Much speculation in Russian media that #Stars Nichuskhkin is returning to Traktor Chelyabisnk of #KHL. Will see where this goes.

Lots of tools, no tool box. Plus the Russian factor is real. So much easier for a Russian guy to take his ball and go home.
Stars could have had Domi or Wennberg, but I guess somebody has to take a chance on the highly rated Russian.

in any case, it looks like Nichushkin needs a change of scenery. If BT could steal him ...

I think this is just his way of saying he wants out. The price for him just got a lot lower

He has talent. Does he have drive and dedication? Why would he just be giving up? Is he going home because he isn't willing to do the small things to make it work or does he feel he needs development and going back to Russia is better for his development?

Because he expects to be given top notch ice time, or because he hasn't figured out how to work hard for ice time?

Could be all of that plus a pinch of homesick. Could a negotiating tactic to get a bump in his next contract.
I feel Nich was in Ruffs dog house unnecessarily a fair bit last year. Not to say he didn't deserve to be in the dog house at all, just that Ruff like Hartley can get it out for you.
Rough 1st year back from hip surgery, I hope he stays in the NHL and rebounds from a bad season.

He has the same reasons for his discontent as did Drouin. He's talented and can play higher in the lineup, but due to depth, has been forced by his coach into unproductive bottom 6 time with less talented players. His earning potential is suffering because of it. Give him time in the top 6 and he'll be juuuuuuust fine.

Just to add, from what I gathered from Stars Fans is that Nichushkin has completely bought-into the defensive side of things, and plays really well along the boards. He plays a very north american type of game already. Some are surprised it hasn't translated into more points, some think his lost year of development to injury is the reason and that he will 'catch up' developmentally, while others feel he doesn't have high-end offensive talent at all.
Kind of mixed bag really, but they seem in agreement that he does do fine along the boards and defensively. If he could be had for a 2nd round pick or equivalent, I would be all over it. Probably wouldn't risk a 1st round pick on him, however.

I think if a 2nd + a mid prospect gets it done, it's a no-brainer.

Contract would need to be hammered out first but yes. If the Stars wanted to traded his rights if he goes to the KHL, I am good with that too.
