I love Sundre, but I need to just forget about my driver there. Playing it next Monday I think.
Had a hole in one today. My first ever - a 106 yard, 56 degree at Lakeview with the gf. Not exactly the most memorable of hole in ones, but she went in.

So I have friday off and my GF is golfing Applecreek for her company tourney on friday. She wants me to pick her up after they are done.
I was hoping to play a round in the mean time. Any good courses around Airdrie or within 30 minute drive?
I was thinking of doing the Canal at Delacour again.

Check out Woodside, I've heard it's in pretty good shape.

I can't recall just how far north of Airdrie it is but Carstairs is a pretty solid track. Well priced too.

$55 doesn't include a cart though. Their green fees were inclusive previously. When did they start charging additional fees for use of a cart?
And why would they?Walk Heritage?Nope.

Anyone with a recommendation for getting my irons re-gripped? About how long it would take and cost would be great too. 9 of them to be done. Pretty casual golfer so nothing fancy, usually golf no more than 15 times a year.

I'd wait until winter if you can and go to golf town during their re-grip event. It's not as good as it used to be (half price or so), but it will save you a bundle.

Buy the grips off Golfworks (they always have deals on) and regrip them yourself. It's a simple process.

River Spirit today. Played Millburn to Spirit.
The Good: Course is in really good shape, greens rolled very good, but were a bit on the slow side from all the rain last night and this morning. Would have been nice to play it before the rain.
Bunkers were really nice for the couple that I was in. Service was excellent, highlighted by the marshall who came to tell us that the group in front had a cart die and we were likely to catch them on the next hole.
The Bad: Fairways were a bit on the hairy side and in desperate need of being cut. Highly doubt they would have cut them on the weekend so not sure what was up with that. No beverage cart to be seen on the entire course. $7.50 for a king can at the turn seems excessive. I normally don't bring my own, but if that's how it's going to be, I will next time.
The Ugly: Not sure what is going on with the infrastructure. Seems to me like they haven't done much work after they got it up and running after the flood. The cart paths are full of potholes and not much more than dirt paths on the side of the course. Millburn #7 is a full disaster. There isn't a blade of grass to be seen on the tee box and they haven't moved dirt for the other tees in what appears to be years. I can't help but think they suck all the money into restoring the course after the flood and are recovering the bank account from that. The range is off mats, which in late June is inexcusable. WTF is up with the parking lot? Shouldn't need 4x4 or steel belted tires to park a vehicle?!

River spirit is trash. Won't pay for a round there ever again.
Litreally had a tire fall off my cart last year. Wouldn't do anything about it. Never going back unless it's free.

Played my first golf round in almost 6 years at Apple creek over the weekend. I forgot how much I enjoy golf. If anybody has semi decent left hand clubs for sale pm me I am in the market to upgrade my setup.

It's happening, it's finally happening - scheduled to play Calgary Golf and Country Club tomorrow (hopefully - unless I'm thwarted by a potential work snafu). Always wanted to play this course.

Congrats, CGCC is a nice course, I worked there for a few summers so I got to play it fairly regularly. I still dream about the snack shack, would highly recommend it. Also take the elevator between 10 and 11. It's as old as most of the members (ancient) but kinda fun.
