RFA List from sports net on Face book
NHL teams made decisions on Monday as to which restricted free agents they would qualify and which players they would let become free agents.
Here are some notables who were not qualified and could become free agents on July 1:
New Jersey Devils:
Forwards Beau Bennett, Devante Smith-Pelley and defenceman Jon Merrill did not receive offers, although the team is hoping to re-sign them before they become unrestricted free agents on Friday or after that.
Calgary Flames:
Joe Colborne, Josh Jooris, Kenny Agostino, Bill Arnold, Turner Elson, Drew Shore and Bryce Van Brabant along with goaltenders Joni Ortio and Kevin Poulin.
Anaheim Ducks:
Brandon Pirri was among five players whom the Ducks decline to make a qualifying offer.
San Jose Sharks:
Forwards Chris Crane, Petter Emanuelsson, Jeremy Langlois and Jeremy Morin; and goalie Joel Rumpel.
Montreal Canadiens:
Forwards Michael Bournival and Lucas Lessio and defencemen Mac Bennett, Morgan Ellis and Darren Dietz.

Smith-pelley and Merrill would both be great signings if they get to July 1st.

I third Smith Pelley. Would be interesting to see what he could do with some of our young forwards on a low cost/term contract. Right shot left winger, could fairly easily be converted to the right side, I'm sure.

some other noteables:
- D Michael Paliotta (CBJ)
- D Patrick Wiercioch (OTT)
- D Dylan Olsen (FLA)
- F Brett Connolly (BOS)
- F Quinton Howden (FLA)
most of those are going to get signed until July 1 though for sure.

Olsen is garbage. Doesn't have the IQ of a turnip.
Howden was a solid bottom 6 forward last year, but he's not a guy that you go out and pick up unless you're struggling to fill out a roster.
A little surprised at Pirri getting passed up, but it's probably like a Colborne situation where his QO costs too much and isn't really worth it. 1 dimensional scoring winger, but man...he can really shoot the puck.

So are you saying he'd fit right in with the Oilers?

Howden would be nice to have in depth especially without Arnold or Shore

He's carried a world junior appearance a long way in his Nathan career.

Yeah, I feel getting Chaisson fills any role Smith-Pelley would have had. Not interested

the only one out of that list i want is Colborne. We have more than enough bottom 6 players. Hell we just added another bottom 6 player today.

Apologies if I came off harsh with my reply, it was intended as good natured ribbing. No hard feelings I hope.
